# how to sum up data that arranged horizontally?

Hi there,

My client has given me data structure as such, in excel form:

y1y2y3y4y5total
1020304050150

If I took out the "Total column" and leave the data as y1 until y5, how can i write an expression to sum up y1-y5 , with data in such format?

Rgds

Hi,

YOu can write the expression like this

total =Sum(y1)  + Sum(y2) + Sum(y3) + Sum(y4) + Sum(y5)

OR

if it is dynamic number of columns can you share the sample data?

Hi,

If the columns are static you can directly sum up all the columns, if not then you have to use CrossTable().

You can transpose the data and then use sum(), or use RangeSum(y1,y2,y3,y4,y5). Check Crosstable in the help file as well.
