How is it applied?
I have to reduce the data on three fields user wise i.e. Deposit_Group (Table: Dep), Region (Table: GeoDist) and Cluster (Table: GeoDist)
I have done the following for Section Access application.
First I made three resident link tables to have values and column names in upper case and to avoid the synthetic and circular references since two fields are coming from one table (GeoDist) that is the reason I have made link tables and not directly put the data model fields in section access.
Upper(Deposit_Group) as DEPOSIT_GROUP_LINK
Upper(Region) as REGION_LINK
Upper(Cluster) as CLUSTER_LINK
[...\QV Users List.xlsx]
(ooxml, embedded labels, table is [User Rights]);
When you are accessing from desktop are you saving coming out and back in?
Yes after reload I saved the application and the re-open it to verify the section access functionality. Works fine on desktop client.
When using access point are you going directly from your machine or remote on server?
In both cases it says "access denied" while accessing from access point, Checked!
Long shot on the problem, but you given the service account admin right in the section Access?
Yes, I have given the NTNAME and ACCESS as ADMIN for Service Account.
Did you give that access permissions (Folder level) to the Domain user accounts??? And while opening through desktop what user names you are using?
Check who is the user when you are accessing the document through Desktop version and then check the credentials you are entering through Access point whether they are tallying or not.
Test your section Access by following below steps:
1: Load Dashboard without section access. save and check that are you able to access it on Access Point.
2: If Yes, Then Access point -> On Dashboard -> right Click -> Add Object -> Add Text Object -> write expression
3: Copy that OSUser name and add it in section access under NTNAME Column and then again reload your dashboard and check are you still able to access it on Access Point.
If you get any error. take screen shot of it and attached here so that we can help you more better ways.
Hi fellow members,
Some progress in the work!
I have identified an issue. & it seems it has solved my problem for now.
In excel sheet where I defined Section Access fields, for the field I want to reduce (apply section access) i.e. DEPOSIT_GROUP_LINK, CLUSTER_LINK and REGION_LINK in my case. I have placed 'ALL' for all access and value for reduction. Access denied error is coming only if it finds ALL for the user. For that I have unchecked the 'strict exclusion' and that solved my problem.
But this is not the proper solution, if by mistake someone enter value other than field value because of not 'strict exclusion' it will show full dashboard.
Note: I have also checked Star is *; but it seems I am unable to use it.
Do anyone have any idea where to place Star is *; ? Before Section Access? Under Section Access Script or after?
I have tried all, but didn't get the desired result.
