Performance / Load / Stress Testing Tool

I'm a trying to do performance testing on a new set of hardware to determine if it can handle the user traffic on the same server that is performing the Qlikview reloads.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a tool that can generate load (volume, not reloading an app) on the server.

I have attempted to use the WAPT tool, but it saves the session ID and does not generate new sessions when played back.

It doesn't matter which of the interface methods it uses (IE-Plugin, Java, AJAX), as long as it works.

Any assistance is appreciated

From what I understand, Qliktech will come out with a tool based on QlikOCX this year that will do exactly that. This tool will be available to all Partners. You might want to consider hiring a server consultant to run tests on your server when the tool becomes available. If you can't wait, you can of course try to develop this yourself using OCX and VB.

Good luck,

Thanks for the info, but I'm trying to move to a new set of hardware soon.

I find it difficult to believe that this type of automated testing tool isn't available for Qlikview. How is load generated in test environments to simulate load when trying to identify memory leaks?

Qlikview doesn't do this type of testing before they release the product for general consumption?

I'm new to Qlikview administration this year and I was expecting a similar set of testing tools to those available in the java/web development environment.

As to your comment about hiring a consultant... How do Qlikview consultants currently perform stress testing ?

It's possible Qliktech has a tool like this that they use internally for pre-release testing; you may want to contact them to find out if it exists and is available to the public (I would doubt it). As for how consultants currently perform stress testing, each has his own methods. Some have indeed created a program to do it using OCX. Others just run multiple sessions (manually) from many client machines to simulate the estimated number of actual users.

Hi bnichol,

I'm trying to create a stress test in vbscript for the same purpose (but i'm unsuccessful so far).
Do you have found a solution for stress test on QlikView ?

No, I haven't done any further investigation into stress testing. I was planning to do the testing prior to switching servers and upgrading versions, but we ran out of time.

Good Luck,
