    Date Issue

    Jeffory Frayser

      I moved to Qlik Desktop 2.2.4 and now I am having an issue with my dates instead of mm/dd/yyy they look like the following: 5/17/57097 (should 20xx).

      This is happening on all my apps.  Any suggestions?

          How do you create your dates?

              They are pulled from a SQL database as 20160503.  I did remove the Date qualifier in the automated script and I now have useable dates but am not sure why the Date qualifier is operating in the way that it is since this upgrade.

                  Right now you date isn't read as date by QlikView. To QlikView it number 20160503 which is when converted to Date using just the Date() function we get 7/30/57097. Just like 05/03/2016 in number would be (42493)

                  If you want it to help QlikView understand it is a date in a different format, you need to use Date#() function to help QlikView interpret the existing date format

                  =Date(Date#(20160503, 'YYYYMMDD'))

                  Now in order to fix this in the load script, this is what you need to do.

                  LOAD Date(Date#(DateField, 'YYYYMMDD'), 'MM/DD/YYYY') as DateField,

                             OtherFields

                  FROM Source;
