# Averaging excluding outliers

Hi,

I am trying to average a variable called "Days Past Due for Loans" but only taking into account values that are less than 361 days.

The variable is called: [Final Current DPD status]

I am trying to do this through an If statement:

IF([Final Current DPD status]<361, Avg([Final Current DPD status]),' ')

Is this the best way to take out the outliers from the calculation?

Hi Martin, you can use set analysis to filter the values:

Avg({<[Final Current DPD status]={"<361"}>} [Final Current DPD status])

This first filters the values below 361, then calculates the average of the values that accomplishes the condition.

Set analysis is the way to do it. If equivalent would be like this:

Avg(If([Final Current DPD status]<361, [Final Current DPD status]))

Thank you! This was very helpful.
