First Sorted Value Issue

Hi,

I created a bar chart 1 dimension and 2 Firstsortedvalue measures to pull in the first and last test scores for a performance indicator. When I don't have a person selected it is only showing the initial or the latest test value for certain items (first picture).The expression I am using for the Initial value is  FirstSortedValue(Value, AssessmentDate) and Latest value is FirstSortedValue(Value, -AssessmentDate). This works perfectly in my pivot table when no one is selected but not my bar chart. There is data available that it should be pulling in when nothing is selected. Once a user is selected measure fill in correctly (2nd picture). Could anyone tell what I am doing wrong or how to resolve this?
