Deleting variable in QlikSense

After deleting variable which is created in front end from Variable Overview in QlikSense Hub, the variable again comes if I reopen the application. Kindly help on this.

I have also noticed this using Qlik Sense Server.

The variable appears to be deleted but if I exit and then go back into the app the variable is still there.

After you delete the variable to you republish it?

I was working in my work stream but as a test I did publish it and then duplicate it and the variable is still there.
