Qlik Sense Server 3.2 with Qlik Sense Desktop June 2017

G'Day All,

This is probably a silly question but how do we go about mixing Qlik Sense Desktop June 2017 with a Qlik Sense Server 3.2:

  • Is it possible to import QS Desktop Jun-2017 into QSE Server 3.2 ?
  • What is the impact of upgrading QSE Server 3.2 to QSE Server June-2017?

We will appreciate any feedback.

Cheers,

Arnaldo

Clearly you will not be able to incorporate any of the new visualizations in apps created on the Desktop as they don't exist in 3.2.

If you use any of the new data manipulation tools on the desktop then you will just need to test the apps thoroughly to make sure that the desktop is not creating anything that 3.2 will not recognize.

Personally, I would not do this.  I would keep both on the same version.

Thanks Mark for you advice, I agree with you on keeping Desktop-Server on the same version, but the new features are very appealing, so, Is it that challenging to upgrade QSE Server 3.2 into QSE Server 2017 as it is hinted at this post Introducing Qlik Sense June 2017! ( I haven't read the details yet).

Upgrading the server is usually no more involved than upgrading the desktop version.  Unless you have multiple node setup.

Just follow the instructions and you should be fine.

You certainly can upgrade the desktop and play around with it to see the new features.  You just can't publish those apps to the server to be safe until it is upgraded.
