QlikView Server Hardware upgrade and clustering

We have QlikView Application of approximately 86 GB. In this we have big application with 16 GB size.

We have approximately 100 users.  Application and user wise we are growing steadily.

At the moment we use a sever with 256 GB RAM and two 8 core CPU.

Ram usage is in average at 40 - 60 %.

CPU usage we reach 100 % at loading of the reports and have peeks over the day.

I except the peeks from our 16 GB Application.

As licence we have Enterprise Server Edition.

We want to replace the sever. We are thinking to buy new Severs and Cluster the server.

  • Is it possible to cluster with Enterprise Server Edition?
  • If we cluster, if one of the server crashes would the other one still working?
  • Any Tips or recommendations from the practice?

The answers:

  • Yes
  • Yes
  • Be aware that if one of the nodes go down the other node MUST be prepared to support the entire access

Clustering is used for high availability not to balance resources...

I will recomend that you request an environment analysis to your partner.

Hi Markus,

1) Yes

2) Yes. Make sure that Load balancing should work properly.

3) Best Practices from my view:-

     a) First do it on POC if POC is available.

     b) Once POC done, check with some of the  projects how it works for confirmation.

     c) Then you can do it on Dev, INT/Test, PROD as per timeline.
