Best Practice: Extracting large amount of data

Good Day,

Can you advice me what are the best practices when extracting large amount of data especially when your source is SAP...

Following are the best practises that are normally used .

1) Extract Details table with help of Header table becasue sometime  there is no timestamp in detail table.

    E.g : MKPF->MSEG

2) Perform Increamental load.

3) Extract required data only because some table contain more than 150 column.
