Allow Export

Hi All,

I'm using QlikView version 9 SR1 and want to allow users to export some charts to Excel but not others that conatin sensitive information.

Is this possible within the same QlikView document?

Many thanks,

Phil

Thanks Qlikuser for your time trying to help, I've had a look at the ideas and can't believe QlikView doesn't already provide this functionality!

There's an action that will export data (but not charts) while the export option is disabled in document properties... I might be able to get away with just using this, though it's not the solution the client wants... time to manage their expectations

Cheers,

Phil

Yes, go to your chart properties. go to tab "Caption" and on Special Icons choose "Send to Excel"

Hi Qlikuser14,

Sadly it's not that simple, to show the special icon I have to go in to document properties and check allow export.

If I do this then on the charts that contain sensitive data, even though there's no icon to export to excel, all the user has to do is right click and the export to excel option is available.

Thanks,

Phil

No, this will only be able for Admin user. For a normal user they cannot set this property.

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean, the user cannot set the property but they would be able to export sensitive data to excel (using right mouse click) which is what I'm trying to prevent.

You as administrator can set the "Export to excel" option. How did you set up your security? Are users accessing the file through Access Point?

Otherwise go to Settings --> Document Properties --> tab Security and uncheck the option "Access document properties"

Yes the end user is accessing through Access Point.

The users can't access the document properties.

My problem is that if I turn off allow export export in docement properties, then notheing can be exported. If I allow export every chart can be exported.

Is there a way to allow some charts to be exported and not others, so far all I can see is that it's either all or nothing

Hi,

As qlikuser said you can go by individual chart and do Check/Uncheck --> send to Excel

Thanks for the support Sivaraj.

Phil, Qlik doesn't work as you are saying.

I need you to open your application using Access point as a USER. Not admin, but a normal user. Right clik on any table and see that the user cannot check or uncheck "Export to excel". If they can, then open your application using QlikView Client, go to Document Properties, tab Security and uncheck the option "Access Document Properties (Users)".

Sorry Guys,

I'm still struggling and appreciate your patience

As you can see from the screen below, even viewing this as a USER through Access Point the option to Export data either to Excel or clipboard is still available, it's this functionality I'm trying to disable...

I can disable this by unchecking the export option in the security document properties, but then when it's published no one can export anything.

Qlikuser14 as per your original reply this table does NOT have the caption option set for Excel export (i.e. no XL icon in caption bar), yet the table can still be exported to Excel using right click, and this table has to be blocked from export.

Hopefully this explains my problem and I can't find an option to enable/disable this export for specific charts.

Many thanks,

Phil
