    Micke Moberg

      Hi

      I am trying to read a deployment package using the Qlikview expressor connector.

      i Use the Connection and select wizard and QV gives me this code

      CUSTOM CONNECT TO "Provider=QlikViewExpressorConnector.exe;Server=localhost;PackagePath=C:\Users\Micke\Documents\expressor\Workspaces\Test\Metadata\ExtractAndTransformOrders.0\dpp\DeployOrder;ProjectName=ExtractAndTransformOrders;ProjectVersion=0;DataflowName=Dataflow1;UseParameterization=False;PromptForOverrides=False;XUserId=JPaWdWA;XPassword=cbVSFWA;";

      SQL SELECT *

      FROM [Step_1].[WriteOrders];

      But when i try to reload i get.

      Custom connection failed

      SQL SELECT *

      FROM [Step_1].[WriteOrders];

      Does anybody know whats wrong

      I runnig qv desktop 11 sr2  and Expressor desktop 3.8.2

          Hello Micke - so far the steps you are providing are correct. There are a few possible reasons for this that we will need to identify.

          Some assumptions and questions:

          • Is this your first attempt at using the QlikView Expressor Connector?
          • Did you just install everything? If so did you leave QLIKVIEW Desktop running when you were installing?
          • Did you restart QlikView Desktop and retry?
          • Did you reboot after installation?
          • Your Dataflow's final output operator is a Write QlikView operator
          • The QlikView Expressor Dataflow runs in QlikView Expressor Desktop without issue and creates the .QVX file in the directory you specify?
          • You are running everything locally on one machine
          • Is it a physical host or a VM guest machine or a hosted VM?
          • What is your operating system?
          • You deployment package is on the same machine

          Can you attach the expressorQlikViewConnector.log  log file to this discussion located here:

          If a Windows 7 or equivalent:

          <drive letter>:\Users\<user profile>\AppData\Roaming\expressor

          Your AppData directory may be hidden so you will need to turn on the viewing of hidden folders in your Windows explorer.

          If another O/S please located your users profile directory and find this file.

          This log file will help us understand more.

          Let me know.

          Regards,

          Mike T

                  Please attach your project.

                  Right click onthe Workspace in QlikView Expressor Desktop - select export, choose the project, it will save it as a zip file.

                  I will import and look at your Dataflow.

                  Are you using more than 1 Step in the Dataflow?

                  Are you using more that 1 Write QlikView Operator in a Step in the Dataflow?

                  Before running can you make sure that the QlikViewExpressorConnector.exe is not running in the Windows task manager?

                  Can you also attach  a screen-shot and cut and paste of the complete error that displays when running the reload?

                  Thank You

                    Please also sent the .qvw file with the connector script in it too.

                    Thanks

                            I was able to run this project and the connector just fine - this may be an environmental issue but we will have to test a few things.

                            This is what I did:

                            I created a new directory strcuture on my local drive:

                            C:\Temp\forum\

                            C:\Temp\forum\OutPutFiles

                            Imported your project

                            Modified the connection artifacts in the project and the library to point to the new directories

                            Went to the deployment package Clicked Update as I had a warning symbol stating that the deployment package was created with a later version (this may be a bug) - it is possible we are using different builds of QlikView Expressor - I am version 3.8.2 Build 23353.

                            dep1.png

                            dep2.png

                            Went in to QlikView Desktop and added the connector and select and it worked:

                            CUSTOM CONNECT TO "Provider=QlikViewExpressorConnector.exe;Server=localhost;PackagePath=C:\QlikView\workspaces\QVEWorkspace371\Metadata\ETLOrder.0\dpp\DeployOrders;ProjectName=ETLOrder;ProjectVersion=0;DataflowName=ETLOrder;UseParameterization=False;PromptForOverrides=False;XUserId=JUdLJKA;XPassword=eeLDGXD;";

                            LOAD Date,

                                Amount,

                                Invoice,

                                Customer,

                                InvoiceRow,

                                RowAmount,

                                ItemNo,

                                Quantity,

                                Cost,

                                fBig,

                                Margin;

                            DPOrders:

                            SQL SELECT *

                            FROM [Step_1].[Write QlikView 1];

                            dep3.PNG

                            Try the attached project - and use the directory structure I used - just so we know the environment is the same. This may have something to do with something else in the installation.

                            C:\Temp\forum\  and C:\Temp\forum\OutPutFiles

                            Let me know if you still have the problem
