Personal Edition Problem

Hi

Can any one help me ?

I use QlikView Personal Edition version 11.20.11718.0 SR1

I have created my own test document. After I closed the document and then immidiately re-open it again, it show this popup error message :

"Access Denied

The file was created by a licensed QlikView user and since you are using a QlikView Personal Edition you may not open this file."

I use the same PC and I open my own docment that I have just creted, I wonder why I can't open it.

Please any one help me.

Thank you very much.

Try also removing the QlikTech folders in the Local and Roaming folders in your users AppData folder (c:\users\myuser\AppData)

Have you also tried using a different folder to save your files? Is the prj folder automatically created there as well?

Hello,

go through http://community.qlik.com/message/190447#190447. It seems that you have crossed your limited four attempts.

Thanks.

Hello tresesco

Thank you for helping me.

But I have never used any attempt for recovery. I still have full quota of 4 attempts.

So I don't understand why I can't open my own file.

Please help me figure out what wrong with this.

Thank you very much

Check if there's a -prj folder in the folder where you saved your document. Remove that folder if it exists. Qlikview sometimes creates that folder automatically for versioning. But versioning is not possible with Qlikview PE and can prevent you from opening your own files.

Hi Gysbert Wassenaar

Thank you very much for helping me.

Yes, there is a -prj folder automatically created.

I have removed that folder then I tried open my file again, the old error message popup disappeared but there was a new message popup asking me to use my 1 of 4 recovery attempts.

This is my own file I have created, I should not use any recovery attempts so I clicked "Abort".

So I still can not open my own file. There still be something wrong. Please help me solve this problem.

Thank you very much

Does this also happen with files you create now after removing the -prj folder or only with files created earlier?

Both. It happens for both cases (files I create now and files I created earlier)

Hi Gysbert Wassenaar and Everyone

Everytime I create a new document, the "-prj" folder is always automatically created.

When I close and re-open the file with the exist of "-prj" folder, it popup error messege about access deny so I can't open it.

When I remove the "-prj" folder, and try open the file, it popup another error messege asking me to use recovery attempts.

I think that the "-prj" folder bring me this problem. If I can turn off the automation of "-prj" folder creation, this problem will disappear.

Today I test by uninstall and re-install QlikView. But when I create a new file, the "-prj" folder still be automatically created and I face with the old problem of openning my own file again.

I want to test this assumption. Do you know how to turn off the automation of "-prj" folder creation ?

Gysbert or anyone please help me.

Thank you very much

Hello all,

I have openeda similar discussion asking about how to turn off automatically creating prj folder at http://community.qlik.com/message/346242#346242

I have tried delete all the prj folders but it works sometimes but not always when prj folders are in different directories.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Hello Fei and everyone

Thanks for your reply.

First time I installed and used QlikView Personal Edition version 11, there was no "-prj" folder automatically created. But when I learned about version control in qlikview development methodology, I started to test manually create "-prj" folder. After that, everytime I create a new file, the "-prj" folder is always automatically created. And this bring me a problem of unable to open my own file.

Yesterday I tested by uninsatll QlikView and removed every "QlikTech" and "QlikView" folders in the registry.

Restarted my computer and then reinstalled QlikView again. But when I created a new file, there still was "-prj" folder automatically created. And I still can not open my own file eventhough I remove that "-prj" folder.

Now I have no idea how to solve this problem. Can anyone help me please.

Thank you very much
