If you want to get started very quickly using and understanding QDF, I suggest you review the brief video series located here: QlikView Deployment Framework Videos. It will walk you through the most common scenarios to help you configure, understand and use QDF.
Please note that the QDF documentation (List of the QDF Documentation and Tools) is a great way to dive in deeper to the more technical areas. I suggest you review the documentation after the videos.
