Blank Screen or Error Message when Opening Qlik Sense Desktop

Symptom:

After installing or upgrading Qlik Sense Desktop, users get a blank screen. Some other common errors are 101 errors, 102 errors, The service did not respond or could not process the request errors, and localhost 4848 errors.

Solutions to try:

  1. Open Qlik Sense Desktop and click anywhere on the Qlik Sense window. Hit F5 (or whatever your refresh key is) a bunch of times - between 5 and 10 usually works.
  2. Update to the latest version of Qlik Sense: often times whatever was causing the issue has been fixed in a later release. You can obtain the download file by filling out and submitting the form here: http://www.qlik.com/try-or-buy/download-qlik-sense. You can also get it from the downloads page if you have a QlikID.
    1. To get to the downloads page go to Qlik.com and log in. Once you are logged in go to the 'Services' menu, then look under the 'Support' sub-menu for 'Customer Downloads'.
  3. Run the 'Repair' option from the download file. You can obtain the download file by filling out and submitting the form here: http://www.qlik.com/try-or-buy/download-qlik-sense. You can also get it from the downloads page if you have a QlikID.
    1. Sometimes after running the repair option your will get a 'Could not reach http://localhost:4848 hub' or other error - if that is the case, try step one again.
  4. Backup any apps you want to keep in a separate folder. Then completely remove any previous version of Qlik Sense, deleting both your user documents and program files. Then do a new installation. You can obtain the downloads file from here: http://www.qlik.com/try-or-buy/download-qlik-sense . You can also get it from the downloads page if you have a QlikID.

Hello,

This can also be caused by the QlikSense desktop version expiration date which is hard coded into the program.

For example, 3.1 SR6 expired 31 July 2017.

Hi Naman,

A few questions:

  1. Do you also have QlikView installed on your PC?
  2. Are you the Admin on your PC?
  3. Are you using a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows?
  4. Which .NET framework version are you running?
    1. This walks through how to check: How to check .NET framework version
  5. Could you give me the full text of the error message you are getting?

Thanks!
