Installation of QlikView may sometimes fail. The root cause may vary and to further assist in troubleshooting, analyzing the log file is recommended.

Environment:

QlikView all versions

Resolution:

The setup procedure is logged when the .exe file is executed. The log file will by default be stored in the Temp folder of the user running the installation executable file, %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Temp and will be named QlikViewServerx64.wil.

Please note that each time an installation is executed, a new file is generated, over-writing the previous log file.

To manually create a log file in a different location, launch the .exe file using the following syntax:

<QlikViewproduct>.exe /V"/L*v <path to logfile>"

Example:
QlikViewServer_x64Setup.exe /V"/L*v C:\logs\qvs.log"

The log will be created in the folder C:\logs in this example
