These instructions will walk you through the upgrade process step-by-step and include best practices and tips and tricks to provide a comprehensive guide. 

Checklist before performing a Qlik Sense upgrade: 

• Read the release notes and review the system requirements for the Qlik Sense version you intend to upgrade to. 
• Create an upgrade plan including testing and maintenance windows 
• Draw up a rollback plan in case of unexpected results
• Test! Prior to any upgrade, validate the new version in a test environment mirroring the production environment
  • Validate Qlik Sense Apps and their visualizations: Do they still behave as expected?
  • Tasks: Do Apps reload and build as expected?
  • APIs: Are API calls still functioning as expected?
  • Extensions: Verify installed extensions
  • Customizations: Validate that customizations such as third party authentication modules work as expected.
• Back up (Backing up a Qlik Sense Site):
  • The Repository Database
  • Certificates
  • Your Qlik Sense Shared folders storing Apps as well as QVD file locations
