Anyone ever found a way to recover private sheets that belong to someone who left the company

is there any way, by hook or crook, to get 'lost' private sheets from an app?   when the owner is no longer available.

I have found that scripts, cli, api, automations etc can ONLY change the owner of a sheet when that action is done by the current owner, which  ---really does not help at all, not a little bit.

It is a very common scenario  that someone has left the company, or is on extended leave or has passed away, and they have apps with PRIVATE sheets.  Currently we have no way to get to these in any way, to change the owner of them. the private sheets are lost forever if the person is no longer available. I have already submitted an idea for this (allow tenant admins to change owners of all private sheets #442217)

Wondering --- has anyone found any way for a different user, such as a tenant admin, to be able to change the owner and reassign the private sheets to someone else?  Has anyone else faced this product gap in Qlik Cloud Government or in Qlik SAAS?

Check out these common use cases.

In the meantime you can change app ownership for deleted or orphaned users.

Hello,

I was hoping that this functionality - keeping private sheets for deleted users - was available simply by changing the app's ownership.

After testing this premise, I found that the private sheets are not saved unfortunately.

This requirement was added as an 'idea' to our 'ideation' feature request site some time ago (but did the above test anyway as I was curious). Please go to the link below to upvote and comment on it.

Yeah you can change app ownership, but any private sheets they had don't get transferred and are effectively lost.

if you have faced this issue and consider it a gap/problem in qlik saas or qlik cloud government, please reply and discuss here, so qlik will become aware of the impact. If you have access to ideas portal, please vote on the related idea on the ideas page. (related idea: allow tenant admins to change owners of all private sheets #442217)

I worked on a project where we changed the identity provider from one domain to another after two companies merged and all the user email addresses changed. When we started the project we thought we would lift and shift all the content to a new tenant but this proved to be way too complex to justify the effort and highly likely to fail. The way we solved the problem was to use an automation to update the email address of the user accounts in the user list. The we switched the identity provider and when the users logged in they were able to see the content that they wanted.

My suggestion for you is to change the email address of the "removed account" then login with the new identity. you should see all the personal content that belonged to that user.

Then you'll have control to inspect and manage that content.

I hope this helps.

That is a direct fit! I'm able to see/publish private sheets with that - thank you!

thanks for sharing this, it looks like it will allow a good developer to get to the private sheets!

Glad to help.

@Frank_S Sounds like the knowledge base and/or documentation needs to be updated with this fairly-recent development, if you'd like to get that ball rolling.
