Drag and drop in pivot doesn't work

Hello,

I have faced a situation where people who work remotely with VPN the pivot table Drag & drop principle doesn't work. It is not one app issue - it doesn't work on all apps.

I have checked with colleagues who have different types of licenses and are now in the office the Drag & drop principle works.

We use QS Novermber 2023 Patch 1 14.159.5 version.

The server itself has been restarted.

Any clues about what might cause that strange behavior?

Thank you!

Just a few ideas to exclude possible causes:

  • is it possible to add any new objects and/or to change existing ones in any way and saving the application - if this is working a read-only state as well as missing rights could be excluded
  • licencing is one part but it's really the right user - means to check if the authentication worked as expected or is it any kind of an anonymous access
  • further are there any security rules in place which may differ between internal and external respectively VPN users
  • beside the VPN which is just an encrypted tunneling and didn't really touch the data or the communication unless it comes from a different IP - are there further network-measures in place like (different) proxies or group policies?
  • a look on the matter with the browser development tools might return any errors which might give valuable hints to the underlying causes

Hi Bacius,

By drag & drop not working, do you mean you are unable to create pivot table or unable to drag the dimensions with in the pivot table from rows to columns or vice versa ?

Regards,

Rohan.

Hey Rohan,

There is no possibility to drag the dimensions within the pivot table.

I cannot track down why this is happening.

Managed to test with other colleagues in the organization who are working in the local network.  It doesn't matter of the license type they all can drag the dimensions in the pivot.

Tried to change the type of the license of the person who is not able to drag the dimensions in pivot. Didn't work out.

Tried giving other type of apps to test if the drag-and-drop principle works. All apps failed. Didn't work out.

Tried cleaning the catch and all the history in the browser. Didn't work out.

Tried switching the browsers Edge vs Chrome. Didn't work out.

Tried incognito. Didn't work out.

I am out of the bullets 🙂 Has anybody faced something familiar?

Thank you in advance!
