What is a Web Application Firewall (WAF)?
For Security, Talend has a WAF that could provide a false-positive and block traffic with a 406 HTTP response.
The WAF can identify legitimate traffic as suspicious (false positive), which could cause functional issues with Talend Cloud products. However, this is a highly unlikely situation.
Talend has tested the WAF in a non-blocking mode, which means it’s watching the traffic but doesn’t block any request. These extended tests were successful, so Talend has enabled blocking mode as a security measure.
What if you think you have traffic that is blocked but should not be?
The WAF returns an HTTP 406 error when a request is blocked. If you have received an HTTP 406 response code in a browser or log file, please contact Talend Support at
Customercare@talend.com and provide the following:
- URL used for the connection
- Public IP of the impacted system (this can be retrieved using whatismyip.com from a browser)
The Talend Cloud operations team (SRE) will investigate and resolve the false-positive.
