Qlik Sense Desktop patch process and compatibility with on-premise installs and Qlik Cloud

Beginning with its November 2022 release, the Qlik Sense Desktop no longer receives patches on earlier versions.

From then on, the highest patch with the latest bug fixes for Qlik Sense Desktop will always be the newest release on the latest Initial Release. See Qlik’s Release Management Policy for details on what constitutes an Initial Release.

Compatibility Qlik Cloud

Use the current version or one of the previous two releases.

We recommend the latest available version.

Compatibility Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows (on-premise)

Your Qlik Sense Desktop client must either be on the same or higher release/patch as your Qlik Sense server deployment. The Qlik Sense Desktop client is backwards compatible for up to two years.

Example One (supported):

You are running a Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows August 2022 server install, which has been upgraded to Patch 6. The Qlik Sense Desktop client is only available up to Patch 4.
You have upgraded Qlik Sense Desktop to the latest patch version, February 2023, Patch 2 or a higher release.

As long as the desktop release is higher than (or equal to) the server release, the setup is supported.

Example Two (not supported):

You are running a Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows August 2022 server install, which has been upgraded to Patch 6. The Qlik Sense Desktop client is only available up to Patch 4.
You are running the last available patch for Qlik Sense Desktop on the August 2022 track, which was Patch 4.

If the desktop version is lower than the server version, please upgrade Qlik Sense Desktop at the earliest.
