After an in-place upgrade from Windows 2012 R2 server to Windows 2019 you might encounter a non working Qlik Sense Repository Service.

Windows could not start the Qlik Sense Repository Service
service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control
request in a timely fashion.

The Windows Event logs reveal:

.NET Runtime version : 4.0.30319.0 - This application could not be started.
This application requires one of the following versions of the .NET Framework:
.NETFramework,Version=v4.8
Do you want to install this .NET Framework version now?

Environment

  • Qlik Sense Enterprise for Windows  February 2021 and above

Resolution

Download and install .Net 4.8 at e.g https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/microsoft-net-framework-4-8-offline-installer-for-windows...

Cause

The initial release for Windows 2019 does not have .Net 4.8 installed by default, which is a prerequisite for Qlik Sense.
