Hiding QV apps from users while developing NP reports

Does anyone have any suggestions for the following?  I have a new development project in progress that involves being able to Publish my QV app to Access Point to real users so I can test section access with those users as it pertains to my new NPrinting reports BUT I do not want those users to be able to see or access my QV app in Access Point until I am ready to officially promote all work to production.  Thanks.

try this:

uncheck all access method in management console documents \ user documents \ select the document \ server \ availablility

If nothing is selected the user can't see the app in accesspoint, too

Hi,

Qlik NPrinting can connect with Qlik Sense apps that are not yet published. The user that runs the Qlik NPrinting Engine service must be RootAdmin so it also has access to all apps. The user you insert in the Qlik NPrinting connection must have access to the app. So you can use the Qlik Sense security to hide the app and, at the same time, connect it with Qlik NPrinting.

if you have publisher licensed, you can distribute the app only to the NPrinting service account.

if not, use section access, only your developer account, the qv service account and the nprinting service account with access to.

Accesspoint is filtering app for user they have no access to,

I'm using Qlikview with NPrinting.  And maybe what I didn't make entirely clear is this...

I have Section Access set up in my Qlikview app and I also want to select Section Access in my NPrinting Connection to that Qlikview app so that I can test reports for specific users to make sure that they only see the data that is associated to them via Section Access.  So in Qlikview user1 only sees his data and user2 only sees his data per my data model and Section Access, and in NPrinting I want to run a report for user1 and user2 to make sure that their reports only show their respective data.

as I know you can't use section access definition from a QlikView app use in a NPrinting Task.

But you can define filters for a User in Nprinting. A filter is assigned to a NPrinting app, also the distribution task.

So if you send a NP report to a user his filters are used and he only will see "his" data.

But you have to assign them in NP.

I understand that that is one way to implement "section access", using filters for users in NP, but I also thought one could use the section access inherent in the Qlikview app as an alternative...or is that not what the "Apply user section access for reports" in the NP Connection means?  Sorry to keep asking questions, but I find the online help too vague.  Thanks.

Yes, you are right, tested just now.

I did not know before.

But when activating, the report is generated with section access limitations

Ok thanks for confirming.  So that leads back to my original problem then... I have to deploy my Qlikview app to Access Point for user1 and user2 in order to run and test my new NP reports for them, however, I do not want those users to see the Qlikview app yet as it is still in a development "in progress" state.

Hi,

Please refer to the official help site: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/February2020/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Section-ac...

Section Access is supported for QlikView if you connect Qlik NPrinting with a QlikView server. It is not fully supported if you connect to local QlikView documents.
