Need to Add one more Access point

Hi Team,

We are trying to add one more server as Access Point to ensure failure over.As of now , we have 1 publisher , 1 access point server ( have 2 node QVS cluster LIC and 1 publisher LIC) .Our business want us to add one more server added as Access point so the load can then be distributed .

i would like to know what are the steps  to add / configure to have the new server added as Access point in QMC .

Please help as I have been struggling to get this answer .

I don't know if you found the  clustering documentation?  Install the web services on 2 different servers, use a load balancing router to distribute access to the web servers.  The web servers will point to the qlikview servers.

If you are using NTLM authentication, MAKE SURE that the service account that is running the Qlik services has the ability to change the permissions on the Qlik application files on the shared storage.

Thanks for your reply . We do have 2 QWEB running on both the Machines.

As per the vendor , we need to have 3 node cluster LIC to enable this on 3 different servers . Is this right , we need to have QVS services running on all 3 servers. 2 on access point and 1 on QMC and that too clustered one

Can you please help me with the configuration that I need to update/ modify on QMC .

On system set up , QlikView Web servers - which server shall I update . Access point OR QMC . for having 2 access point , do we need to have 2 entries of QWEB servers .

Nitin , I think I misunderstood initially, so let me get further clarity here, are you saying you basically want a failover server running QVS and QVWS in case one of the nodes in your current cluster goes down?  If so, this is quite easy actually, you just install the components on the new server you want there, then what you will need to do is remove one of the QVS nodes from the cluster to add the other one to complete the configuration setup on it, but once that is done, you can switch things back or leave that server as the backup.  You just cannot have 3 QVS services running with a 2 node license, so as long as one of the 3 nodes has the service stopped, things will be fine.  Hopefully this makes sense.

If you are talking about a 'hot' failover, then yes, you would need that third node in your license in that case, the only way this works is one of the nodes being offline in a 'wait' state...

Brett
