Change the file name before it is downloaded in Qlik Sense

Customers would like to add a file name field to the export image/ppt/pdf dialogue where the user can give the exported file a proper name. As it is now, you will get a cryptic file name when you export sheets/stories. Most likely is that the end-user will change the file name when the file is downloaded.

The default name could be the name of the chart/image/sheet/story followed by date and time.

Is there any solution for this now ?

How can we change the file name or put a default sheet name before downloading the excel file in Qlik Sense?

The default behavior of exporting reports is to utilize the title of the chart / sheet as the file title. To adjust this before downloading, the user could duplicate the sheet, change the chart title, and export.

Is there a way to prevent random characters from being added to the file name when exporting?

My export file name contains the object title, but also includes some random characters on the end in parentheses.

Hi @spencergarrett , can you show me a screenshot? Usually the export files are "Qlik Sense - " &  [Table Name] & "-" & [Date Exported]. So I would guess it's maybe an unformatted date field.

Hi @Meghann_MacDonald it looks like it's downloading the sheet object with the object id in parentheses:

Is there a way to prevent this?

I'm downloading as data with table formatting.

My formula for the object is       ='ObjectName '&date(floor(ReloadTime()),'MM/DD/YYYY')
