Hi All,
I am looking for a solution where I create a story once and every week the data should automatically get updated in the story.
I understand that we can use snapshots and the entire sheet itself within a story, However, is there a way which probably I am not aware of which can help me achieve a story where the data in those charts in the story has to update every week or so.
FYI - I use Qlik Sense 3.2
Thank you very much.
In alot of ways its better than a powerpoint presentation as you can easily move back and forth between your live and static data which can be very powerful in turning your meeting into something more dynamic than a formal reporting of facts.
Practical uses
I've used stories for How to guides with the sheet function. (see your monitor apps for a good layout)
For supporting Quarterly Business Reviews (Copy the last story and update the charts accordingly) this is a high level steering meeting so the story should be limited in scope and the time to built it so you can jump off into your data if required.
Fo regular reporting needs like I say NPrinting is a solution if you want to extend your existing Qlik Sense or QlikView investment,
Hope this helps
Regards
Andy
Hi Divya,
You have to share whole sheet for automatical refresh.
If you use snapshot from snapshot library - it doesn't work.
Hi,
This is possible, but quite complicated. I have made a solution for this for a customer. Using the API:s you have to got through the story, find the snapshots, reapply the bookmark that is in the snapshot, create a new snapshot and replace the old one.

It's better to control what's in there. In case of automatic update, your story could lost it's meaning (for example trends you highlighted can go opposite way).
Kind regards
Tomasz
Hi Petr,
Thank you for the response.
Yes, sheets can be used. However, I am trying to find out if it is possible with a single chart for example.
Hi Erik,
Thank you for the response.
Can you provide more information as to what API you used for this?
Your requirement probably sits more comfortably in the NPrinting set of functionality as with that you can schedule a distribution of specific charts out to a defined audience.
A story has a start, middle and end and if you change the plot then its a new story. You want to be able to return to the previous story as a reference point which is its power.

Hi Tomasz,
Thank you for the response.
I get your point. However, there are plenty of situations where the user wants to get rid of power point and use Story telling in Qlik Sense. Traditionally with Power point the user takes snapshot of the charts and pastes it in the power point slides (every week if it is a weekly report), so if it would be possible for users to create a story once and then update the data once in a week automatically, this would help them immensely to get the burden off their shoulders to do this every week.
So, I'm seeking for a solution (if it exists) which I'm unaware of.
You should explore NPrinitng for your requirement. This kind of weekly reporting automatical generation is what its there for.
You can publish in PDF, Powerpoint, Word, HTML, Excel and Pixel Perfect.
Deploy via email, to the hub to a folder.
Hi Andy,
Thank you for the response.
I understand, Probably my understanding of story telling might be wrong. So, its basically not a replacement for Power Point presentation, but has its own purpose. However, it would have been great if there was an option to enable such a functionality just in case some one might need it and I'm sure many would find such a feature really helpful.
Anyways, I get the point. thank you once again.
