Hello, everyone, and welcome to Q&A with Qlik.
Today we're going to be talking about Qlik Reporting.
I just want to quickly introduce myself. My name is Troy Raney. I helped put together videos and webinars like this one, and we've got a great expert panel for you today. We'll just quickly go around the room and let everyone quickly introduce themselves. Andrea, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hello, everyone. I'm Andrea. I'm working in tech since more or less than years, and I work with the former enterprise NPrinting before. I'm focusing especially on Reporting and Qlik Cloud in general
Great, thank you. Frank?
Thank you.
Hi, my name is Frank Savino, and I've been with Qlik as long as Andrea Bertazzo, my colleague. It's been 12 or 13 years now.
And I'm also, as Andrea Bertazzo, the Qlik subject matter expert here in the Americas.
Fantastic. And Vinay?
Hello everyone, my name is Vinay and I've been with Qlik for six and a half years now and I work with generic Qlik Sense Enterprise or Qlik Cloud issues on agentic analytics side
Great.
That's it about me.
Thank you all for being here. When you registered for Q&A with Qlik, this today's session, you had an opportunity to submit some questions ahead of time, and several people have done that. So we're going to start with those questions.
First question:
For Reporting in Qlik Cloud, our improvements on the pivot tables, straight table formatting on the roadmap
If a client simply reorders columns and has a specific banding or formatting, do those changes get moved into the report?
It's a very good question.
And I love all the improvements with the straight table and allowing customers to make those changes on the fly, but does that affect Reporting?
Who wants to address that one?
So, I'm sorry, was that in the chat or
In…
That was one of the pre-submitted questions.
Oh, sorry, okay.
Okay.
So this is sorry, Troy, was that the PowerPoint
Oh, I can read it again. So
Yes, please, sorry. I was looking at the live questions simultaneously. Go ahead.
For Reporting in Qlik Cloud, our improvements on the pivot table, straight table formatting on the roadmap
For clients simply reorders columns and has specific banding or formatting.
Do those changes get moved into the report?
Yeah.
You'd love to comment here, Frank. Basically, it looks like that
Yes.
Yeah.
I guess the best idea here is to take a look at ideation, which is a place on Qlik Community. You can find it under
Support
Ideation and
This is the
Ideation portal. And here you can search through some ideas that are already submitted from customers, new ones, those that are open for feedback.
Those that are already on the roadmap in development, or have been delivered. There's been a recent update to the ideation portal. and
I quickly did a search
On, I didn't do one on this one, but
Yeah, that's a little bit of a complicated search. Straight table formatting. But
This is the best place
for that type of suggestion for improvement, because
I believe I've seen that as an idea, and I'm not sure where it is anymore, if it's on the roadmap or still open for feedback, trying to get more votes. But
Since that is certainly important to someone on this call, please go in here, search for that
And give it a vote, and our product department team
ways
feedback from our customers like yourselves.
Very heavily, but considering what to add to the product.
So I'll put a link to this ideation portal
in the chat, so you can take a look there and search for it
All right, next question.
Currently, the email attachment file name is required to have a date timestamp
Is it possible to have a dynamic or static file name without the timestamp?
Yeah, I see that we have less the same questions, the same question also in Q&A. And the answer is that at the moment, this is not possible because
5 names are created with the timestamp all the times. So it's
It's part of the name of the wrapper we create and we don't have the option to remove this timestamp at the end of the name. It can be a good suggestion to add in our ideation team
For a new implementation, actually
Okay, great.
Yes, yes.
Yeah.
So we're back to ideation then. That's totally fair. We get a lot of creative and good feedback on how to improve the product from these sessions.
Moving on to the next question
How to filter import in Qlik Cloud Reporting Service.
Frank, do you want to address that one?
Sorry, again, I was multitasking with the questions in live. Can you repeat it?
Okay.
Yeah, let's address all the questions verbally, Frank. So if you
This question, how to filter import in Qlik Cloud Reporting Service.
Yeah, so you need to, in Qlik Cloud Reporting Service, you can use the recipient import process wherein you can define the filter names
And the recipient import Excel file that's available for download from the help site. You download that file, you can add again, you can add users, email addresses, and so want to identify every recipient that you want
Send to however
Unlike NPrinting, which allows you to find the
to define the filter values and formulas, for example, you cannot do that in Qlik Reporting at this time.
So you do have to go manually into the yeah and Troy is showing the link that I shared with them earlier. Go into the reports, the filters section of
I've,
of Qlik Reporting and go ahead and define it there. The name has to be the same as the filter value that you define here as you use in the recipient import file. That's the critical element. Otherwise, it won't work.
Great. And I'll share this link
So you can see exactly what settings we're talking about, but basically you have to add that filter.
Okay
But that's a great resource. Thank you.
Okay, next question.
Is it possible to set CC and BCC in Qlik Cloud Reporting Service?
Do you want to start with that, Andrea? And then I can sort of follow up with the workaround
Yes.
As before, this is another good option for an ideation. We don't have CC and BCC at the moment in Qlik Reporting. I guess that this is
requested by many users, so I hope it will be implemented soon, but having an idea in an ideation program will help us to prioritize this issue. At the moment, it is possible to add external users
And yeah, Frank, I think that another possibility is to use is to work with groups, right?
Yes
For the record, I did search for BCC, Reporting BCC, and I found that and I posted
Oh, that's fine. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
The link, I see people have already voted for it, and I provided the link, so if you guys want to click on that link and
Yes.
give it a few more votes, that would be very helpful. It looks like it's in the open for feedback.
Section
Absolutely. The more feedback we have and the more people are pushing for this, then the more likely it is to have it quickly in the product
Yes.
But Frank, you were talking earlier about a workaround, right?
Yeah, so if you can hear me, I had to switch my audio suddenly. Can you hear me all right, folks?
Yes, we can hear you now.
Great. So the workaround for that is you can actually create a
You can create a Qlik Reporting, Qlik Reporting report through automations. So if you go over to, and there's an automation block called the mail block, and you can attach that to your Qlik Report flow in your automation
And there is a two, a CC and a BCC in the automation block. So it's a very different way of approaching Reporting, but it's a very nice option for you if you must have two BCC and CC in your
As an optionality. But if you don't want… if you want to stay within
Qlik Reporting. Another thing you can do is set up your groups in your recipient import file and use instead of a two and a CCC and a BC, well, this won't work for BCC, obviously, but if you have groups
If you set up groups, at least you can emulate like a CC environment where you just set up groups for your report distribution.
Okay, and that's setting up a distribution list like it's documented here.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Fantastic. So I've copied the links to both those options as workarounds, and I have personally, I like the
The automate option, because that does allow for the BCC. That's pretty cool.
Correct. Yes.
Great. All right. Next question is
What are the best practices of Qlik Cloud Reporting?
Frank has found this great link in our documentation.
All about
Yeah
Scheduling, managing the recipients, designing, using Excel templates, and additional best practices. So I'll post a link to this.
Anything you want to
say about that
Yeah, I mean, this is pretty straightforward, best practices. I mean, if you, you know, it's just something you want to consider before you start writing or in the process of writing your reports. Just, I mean, I would just come over here and check
Check this out before you proceed.
Great.
These are some good, very good general best practices.
Yeah, definitely. All right.
Next question
Are there any special Qlik themes to use for Qlik Cloud, specifically when using PowerPoint?
I mean, there's really no specific themes related to Qlik Reporting. However, you can use the existing themes in Qlik Cloud
for your Qlik Sense apps
So, and those will naturally be used part of your Qlik Report. And however, if you want to, and Choi's showing this on the screen now, you can also create your own custom theme, which can be applied to your app
Which in turn becomes part of your which will be viewable. The formatting of which will be viewable in your
In your Qlik Report output.
Nice.
And you also found a link to some limitations with those
Yes, and please do look at your limitations before proceeding with any of this. If, I mean, there are some important limitations. For example, with custom
Yeah, there is important limitations. I mean, there's too many to go through here, so please do review these as you're, before building out, and just consider that it's not an unlimited situation. There are things that will impact you if you're not following the limitations. But if you're
Just making simple basic reports made with some complexity. You know, you're probably going to be fine. However, if you start running into some things, make sure you're coming back to the limitation
This is great. And I've shared the links to everything I
Perfect.
In the chat that I'm sharing on screen.
Oh, wonderful.
So move on to the next question.
Is there a way to easily develop visuals for Qlik Cloud PowerPoint, like developing on a sheet with custom width or height
to make sure the visuals in Qlik Cloud show up the same amount of rows and columns as the PowerPoint.
Yeah, unfortunately, PowerPoint contains a limitation that is not as flexible, that is inflexible, in fact. For example, with Qlik tabular Reporting, the Excel output or Windows report with the
I'm sorry, what word report with
Charts and so on and tables, there's no limit to the number of rows that you can use with tabular reports.
HTML or Word reports, or in fact, pixel perfect reports. However, there is a physical limitation with PowerPoint slides. It doesn't automatically. If you have rows
But you're only seeing rows from your chart
On the PowerPoint slide, it's because the slide does not automatically create another slide. It does not spill to the next slide. It's a physical limitation to that slide. So, the rows have to fit on, on your slide, unfortunately
So use
Okay.
In that case, you'd want to use a summary slide, create a summary slide, for example, with the drugs that you know, or use one of the other editors.
Would
You know
Yes.
Pixel perfect be kind of a workaround for that?
Absolutely.
Great.
Anyway, this is another good suggestion for our ideation program. I remember that we had this option in NPrinting to create a report for Qlik Sense
So it's something that maybe in the future could be implemented. But again, it's a request that should come from customers. So adding this to the ideation is the best thing
Yeah
Great. So please do check out Qlik Education if you have a good idea. And speaking of that, our next question
As I understand, the CSV export option does not exist in Reporting. Is that planned to be added?
We saw this question because it was pre-submitted. I did a quick search on the ideation page for CSV and Reporting. I didn't
find it. That doesn't mean it's not there.
On my initial search. But please go into ideation and suggest that because
Yes, I see the same question coming also in the question and answer panel. So CSV
And, other kind of file
So, yeah, going to education is still the best thing. At the moment, those options are not available.
Okay.
That's fine.
All right, next question. Any tips on scaling charts to fit to fit a fixed number of charts in a grid style layout on a PowerPoint slide without excessive white space or cutting off tiles while preserving aspect ratio
Yep, back to ideation.
Okay.
Yes, exactly. Similar to the other question. Yeah, absolutely.
Unfortunately
That's
All right.
Moving over
So the questions that have been submitted
Just a few moments ago
Next question. Currently, when saving a report to SharePoint, there's only the option to add a timestamp always readdress this one
All right, moving on
It would be nice to customize the format of the timestamp to still use the variables such as year, month, day without the timestamp. Oh
Same sounds similar.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's quite similar. In this case, the question is to change the formatting. I think a general solution could be to allow
Variables, yeah.
using variables so you could format your… yeah, you can format your timestamp in the way you prefer directly in a variable, and import it in the name
Yeah, but again, this is another thing that we should ask in acclidation
Yep
I was just thinking about a workaround that we talked about earlier. If you send your reports via Qlik Automate
Wouldn't that allow you to customize that
I haven't tried it. I'm just asking.
Yes, that would be, there'd be a lot of room, a lot more room for customization. Yeah, good job. Yep, that's a good one, Troy.
What would you say, Vinay? You're the automate expert in the room.
Yes.
Sorry to put you on the spot.
Bananos!
I
Looking through the other question, sorry.
Sure. My question was like, do you think we could
What was the question? I was looking to the other questions
If we're sending reports via Qlik Automate, can't we customize the format of the timestamp?
I don't know if you can hear me, but the
Yeah, we can hear you.
The yes… yeah, okay, so yes, it's a very good idea, Troy, that you suggested. There's a lot more flexibility in the automate and it's worth exploring if you
build your report and Qlik Automate. Yes, definitely check it.
Yeah. Yeah, just to add, like
Qlik Automate, right? It's a free text, there's no predefined names that would be generated, so you can name it anything that you need. There's no… if it's a scheduled one, you can add, like, you know, as Andrea suggested, you can add a variable that
Generates the reports based on date, or you have a predefined names that needs to be used for every day, like, taking, like, Wednesday report, Tuesday report, like that. You can name that as well using Automate
Great.
And I see, just want to read a couple questions that got answered via text.
When will it be able to have an option to not send a report if there's no data?
Frank, you addressed this one
Okay.
Yeah, so in Qlik Cloud Reporting, the conditional Reporting isn't available yet. I believe it's in ideation already. It did not have a chance to look it up. So it would be conditional Reporting
Qlik Cloud, and if it's there, do vote for it. If it is not there, I'm pretty sure it's there, but if it's not there, do create a new one, or if it is there, do, do sign up to vote for it
Okay, and one more from
Yep.
Yes.
Same user. Will we ever be able to create tab or CSV delimited outputs? Oh, yeah, we addressed that one. Great.
Okay, next question
Is there an option to define the recipient groups without code or import?
I mean, that's part of the standard Reporting right now. If you go into the interface, you can create your groups one by one
If you go into Qlik Reporting for the app, you go to the app, you go to the dropdown and you go over to Qlik Reporting. In the Qlik Reporting interface, you should be able to define your groups. And one way and users one by
one, if I'm not mistaken
Next.
So yes, currently you can do that. That's great.
Fantastic. All right, next question.
Yeah, go ahead.
Sorry, I just want to add
So, I've seen ours, you know, app that was built by internally, where it can pick up the, you know, filters and the user groups from within your tenants, like, how many users are there, it can pick up and build your
You know, filters based on that as well. I've seen that internally done by our professional services for our large enterprise clients, where
They don't have to import the users, they build an app, like,
Which contains all the users, and it basically creates the filters and the groups based on whatever the list of groups you have in the tenant and the users that will pick up automatically from that, and yeah, that would be much easier for the large clients, yes.
That's very cool.
Yeah, it's it was something that's developed specifically, but not built in, correct, Binet?
Yeah, it's the app is not for everyone, it has to be customized, yes.
Okay.
Okay. Well, if you're interested in that kind of solution where you're filtering all your distribution lists through a Qlik Sense app
Maybe reach out to your account manager and
Ask about it and they can hopefully put you in contact with professional services and get you set up to try it out that solution, at least.
That is cool that it's
They've got it working for customers.
All right, next question. It's another roadmap one.
Yep.
Is there a place to get the roadmap of what is in development for Reporting? Oh, yes. That was one of the sections in ideation. So I know we talked about ideation a lot, but
Not to be hidden.
If you go to ideation portal on the roadmap is a separate tab. So you can go in here
On this tab, search for what you're interested in
I think you can even tag a few things as favorites and add it to my priorities, but you can see what's on the roadmap here before it actually becomes part of the product.
Very nice.
So that is a really cool part of the ideation portal now.
I hope that helps.
Next
That's awesome.
Question
Is there a migration path from NPrinting to Qlik Cloud Reporting?
Oh
We have the immigration tool
So the migration? Yes.
Go ahead, Vinay.
No, it was sent, yeah.
Andrea, talk to us.
Oh, sorry.
No, we have the migration tool, the same tool that we can use for the migration from Qlik Sensor to Qlik Cloud can be used also for NPrinting
Yes
Yeah, I did a couple of Texpert talks on this subject, demonstrating the tool
Where the heck is it? Migrating from
Qlik Cloud
It's in that one as well
But
Yeah, and
Migrating to Qlik Cloud Analytics, this guy
Yeah, and there is a limitation, you have to ensure that you're… if you want to get all the report types, you do have to be on the very most recent version
And the most recent version of me, I believe it's May .
NPrinting to to perform that migration to the cloud.
Yeah, but
This is a really cool tool that basically simplifies an almost and completely automates the entire process for you
Yes.
There are some added steps when it comes to NPrinting, but yes, there is a path there
So do check out that recording and
Hope that helps.
Next question.
Is there any way to add values to the generated report file name?
Interesting. So I guess getting kind of a dynamic
File name
Yeah
I feel like I've seen that
Yeah.
I think it is more or less the same question that we had before. So customizing the file name generated by Qlik support. And at the moment, as far as I remember, we have the option to add
Field elements only if we use cycles, but we don't have the possibility to add values like variables, for example to the file name. It's something that we should be addressed
In cliquidation
But currently it could cycle through
Yes, you can.
Values in a field. Yeah.
Of course you can, and if you do this, the name of the selection is shown at the end of the file name of the report, of course, but I don't think it is exactly what David was asking for
Yeah
It's not perfect. Another workaround might be to set up
Automate
Yeah.
Some Qlik Automate. Exactly what I was thinking
Yeah, yeah.
That's definitely one of those fantastic customizable tools for doing specific
Correct.
Use cases like this.
Correct.
Nice. All right. Well, I love workarounds, so
That's a good one. Next question
Is this session strictly for Qlik Cloud, or does it also cover Qlik Enterprise? Well, we're all types of Reporting questions, so bring them on and we'll see if
We can help address your questions.
Next question.
Are there plans to allow Google Sheets for designing tabular reports in Qlik Cloud, or is it strictly limited to Excel? Oh, that's a good one. I feel like I've seen that
Google Sheets
We're strictly limited to Excel
Yeah, but I feel like I've seen it in ideation as something that people can vote for.
It might be, yeah. Yeah, I mean, it could be. So if it's there, yeah, go and vote for it. All right, now a lot of the development is around tabular leverages a Microsoft . So I think there would be a lot of
That would be a yeah, it would be a definite
feature requests. So you put it into ideation. At the moment it's strictly Microsoft .
All right.
Next question.
If the generated PDF file size needs to be reduced, is it possible to adjust the output quality or compression level if Qlik application automation
In Qlik Automate, either through the standard Reporting blocks or via raw API call.
I mean, there's no compression tool. So you have to kind of manage
you have to consider if you're using heavy images, heavy use of images, and you're hitting the 500 megabyte limit in your report. There's no way to compress that. So you kind of have to manage the expectations of the report
size in the
The use of images. Using images uses a lot of space, so
Sure. And is that limit you mentioned, was it 500 megabytes? Was that on
Yeah, I think it's still 512.
Per report.
Was that the limitation on the Reporting service or
Okay.
On the Reporting service. Yeah.
Yeah, you know, I have to, to be honest, I think that might be an NPrinting limitation.
I know, right? Sometimes these things
Yeah.
Hmm.
Stay with you and you realize it's not
It might be a so
In any case, the same principle applies if you're trying to keep your
If you're trying to keep your report sizes lower because of perhaps mail limitations
Yeah
Right? If that's something you're truly trying to do, then again, it's a managing expectations and knowing that images are going to
or hundreds, if not thousands of sheets, if that's the case, you know, maybe you need to break up the report into smaller, you know, you know, into smaller pieces.
Using a cycle or, you know, using certain selections for one report, or certain selections for another report, that kind of thing. So
Yeah, I want
I feel like I've seen something about
File size, compression or something and Qlik Dev, but I like a specific API call, but I
Yeah
Yeah, if so, my apologies, I haven't seen that myself, but that's not to say it's not there, but I haven't seen it.
No, it's talking about sheet size, never mind. Okay.
Just thought I'd do a quick search.
Sure
All right
Next question
For on-demand, can we add more controls to limit who can access it or enforce filters?
For example, we might only want certain people to be able to run the report
Also, we would not want people to run their ports wide open
Yep
I believe in Qlik Cloud
When it comes to rights, go ahead, Vinay
Yeah, I mean, you can filter, like, or limit who can run, but there's no option to filter, like, there's no option to restrict on filters, whether they can access only this much filters or the formats. It's
enabled. So there are two things. One is that you gave the permission to run the report, and second one is the, you know.
When the report is being billed, they can set, like, which format and which filters, so by default, they get this
When they have access to run the funnel
When they can run the on-demand reports. But there's no control on the filter level, you can only control whether they can generate the report or no. That's the only control that we have right now.
But I mean, if they have
If they have access to the space, then that's one way limiting the access to the space is one way to limit who can run it
There you go.
Yeah, and you can do that by creating custom groups in your
In your tenant permissions. So under manage users, you can set up a special group and add users to that group, and then provide, as Vini said, the permissions for in-app Reporting to that custom group, and then apply the group
As needed type thing. So I think, Vina, that's kind of where you were going.
Yeah, and just to add to that, like
Exactly.
There you go.
Whenever the report is generated, you know, if you have a section access, the report would be built on the level of access the user has, so this… right now, I don't think we… there's no need to have those
Yeah
Enforcement who can generate the report. If we can generate the report, it would be generated based on the level of access the users have, so it would be more ideal to control on the section access level, like, what kind of data they can see, rather than controlling on the
UI side
That's great. Good answer. Thank you.
A lot of… these are all great questions, so keep them coming. But if you could keep your questions to the Q&A tool, I see a few slipping into the chat and I'm afraid I'll lose them. Moving on to the next question.
Is there a complete guide for designing pixel perfect reports? Seems there are a lot of possibilities in it.
Yes
There's a click. There are a few Qlik Learning modules that are free
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
You can find them on the help site. There are also some interesting videos
Yes.
about pixel perforated Reporting. You can find them in YouTube, for example. I see as SaaS in 60 has created 10 videos about this topic
Exactly. Yeah.
And
So you can see there, there's a ton of resource. Well, there's many resources that are free through the Qlik learning platform. So
Yeah.
Sometimes, as with computers, there's lots of different ways to get the same answer, but there's We recommend Qlik Learning is a good resource.
Yeah.
Oh, and on that note of learning how to do things, please remember that you can also go to the community and ask questions in the community. So self-serve your requirements by posting your requirements right in
Qlik Reporting community. And so yeah, and that's where you'll find
hundreds of, if not thousands of community fellow community members
standing ready to help you out. Community members from customers, partners, and even from click and and we're there to help you with your with your questions. So there it is.
You're talking about the forms
That… you got it right there. Yeah.
Yes, please.
All right, I'll post the link to that forum on Reporting services and alerting.
Yes.
And somebody
Found
Perfect.
On the roadmap, ability to select report naming convention without timestamp. So it is here
Excellent.
If you'd like to, it is on the roadmap, which is great, but if you want to go ahead and last second, give it a few more upvotes just to really hammer it home that this is important to you. I put the link there so you can
Nice one. Yeah.
Thank you for that. That's really cool that you found it.
Yeah, that's great.
All right, next question.
Can reports be sent when a certain condition in your data is met, or is that only doable with alerts? The reason I ask is because alerts doesn't allow you to send a distribution list.
Great question
Yeah, it's the same answer as previous that conditional Reporting in Qlik Cloud anyway is not available.
But again, this is something that could be customized with Qlik Automate. I think you can set up some conditions there.
Yeah, you might be able to do something with Automate.
Depending on what kind of condition, of course.
Yeah.
But conditions in your data. So
unfortunately not out of the box, but it is possible.
Great
Sure.
In Qlik Cloud, it is in NPrinting again. If we're talking about NPrinting versus cloud. Since we're talking about Reporting, you can do it in NPrinting on-prem, but it's not available yet in cloud.
Or again, check automate to
All right.
For more customizable… customizable
Next question, because we keep defaulting to
Qlik Automate. Is there any kind of resource or documentation or examples available on how to use Qlik Automate for reports?
Yeah, there are
Do you guys know of
Yeah, I mean, there's a number of things in in the in Qlik Qlik, sorry, in Qlik's YouTube channel has some good live
Examples of using
Automate with Qlik Reporting. So that off the top of my head, that's what I would check out.
Okay.
And I would also go to Qlik Learning to just learn how to use Qlik Automate. And I believe there's even a section
Automate with Qlik Reporting in there, so
Nice.
Again, Qlik Learning is a really great asset if you're learning new Qlik Reporting topics that you want to know about.
Learning.click.com and type in automate in your search.
Okay, and I'll see if I can dig up a link and add to the recording of this session that I'll be emailing you later this week. So keep a lookout for the email you'll get with the recording of this session and check out the resource links that'll be provided with it
Next question
Are the Reporting tasks going to be included in the Tasks menu, like what we have now for reloading apps tasks? At the moment, there's any way to control if the report task fails. We need to go to the Go App by App
And check the status.
On NPrinting, there was a menu to control this
That is a great question. I feel, I don't know
the native or who has good
ideas about
monitoring
Reporting tasks
Do we have an app for that?
I feel like there's an app for that.
But
Yeah, but the app doesn't show the live, like
Live status
Yeah, life status. I know we are working on the improvement of the task visibility. Right now, we have only for the apps and
Like, the reload tasks, so I'm not sure if we have similar for Reporting
Okay
Yeah, agreed.
But, that's an excellent point.
I can, you know, I can follow up on that
Okay, great. Thanks, Vinay.
Next question.
Are the NPrinting schedule possibilities going to be included in the cloud? We were able to schedule for the first working Monday
This is not possible in cloud and on NPrinting, this option exists.
Yeah, very customizable calendar that we had with NPrinting.
Yes, we have a calendar, actually, when you schedule your tasks and it is possible, for example, to schedule for the first, the second, or any day of the month
Okay.
But yeah, not exactly the same options
But not quite days of the week, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's true. It's, it's a feature request, something that should be… should go again on ideation
We have a lot
Because, yeah, that's sometimes our developers don't think people want it on the first Monday. They think they just want it on the first and
That's good to add that. Thank you.
And
This is great feedback we're getting.
Okay.
Yeah, it might be an automate as a feature. I'm going to look that up, but keep going and I'll see if I can find it as a feature of the automate mail block, perhaps.
Next question
Are the Reporting blocks inside Qlik Automate going to be updated?
Or new blocks going to be released? Quick answer to that, yes.
Yeah, yeah.
I'll continue
Yeah.
How can we use the filters or the recipients and groups created on the app Reporting menu inside automations?
It's very difficult to make selections on the reports created in the app Reporting menu when we need to use them inside an automation.
Okay
How can you smoke
Specifically, we're looking to get
The filter the recipients and groups in Qlik Automate when building reports.
Yep
Is there an article about that?
Go ahead, Vinay.
Yeah, I would use the raw API request with slash apps with the app ID and slash report filters
So you can achieve that, but it is going to be a raw API request. Again, we have a list of APIs that are being published for Reporting. You can any of those
Okay.
The inbuilt Reporting,
You know, blocks that we have. It is not going to achieve everything, but if you are not seeing those, you know, options or the activities that you want, you can always use raw API request, but just use almost anything that you can do. All the published API in Qlik Cloud, you can
Perform any of those activities using raw API request
Okay. So if you're not seeing what you are trying to do in the UI
And then Qlik Cloud, the interface, it is still possible through an API call to get more specific.
Yes.
Great.
Yeah
All right. Next question.
Not sure if this question's been asked or answered. Is there an ideal page size to create your visuals in Qlik Cloud so that they will show up nicely in PowerPoint? Yeah, we did talk about that.
Because they're trying to develop their visuals for PowerPoint.
Yeah.
Yeah
I mean, it's Qlik Learning, right? It's, it's always start with Qlik Learning if you're new to this.
100% check, do the basic courses and Qlik Learning and then build out your knowledge from there. Ask questions in the Qlik Reporting community. Lots of answers have already been given in the Qlik community. So click Qlik Learning, number one
Learn how to use it through Qlik Learning. Number two, when you have questions and you're learning again, the Qlik community, the Qlik Reporting community is amazing. You know, people come and answer your your requirements quite readily over there.
And that kind of falls into the next question, which is, I'm totally new to Qlik as a Reporting tool. Is there any beginning step-by-step guide to generate multiple reports from a single dashboard?
Yes
And yes, there absolutely is
Yeah, so I think I just jumped ahead.
Yes
Yeah, sorry.
Where I had Qlik Learning up here on one of these tabs
Yeah, you did. There it is.
There it is.
You could go to the catalog up at the top. I just clicked on catalog or
And just
my learning or home, but here you can sort by products
Reporting
Yeah, there you go. Perfect.
That is pixel perfect introduction to editor and tablet Reporting. So
I'll just
Send a link to that course, but there's definitely things on Qlik Reporting
Today
Yeah?
match to find, for example, in a Youtube, a lot of videos that we created just to start with in-app Reporting.
Do you want to send me a link?
Yes, give me a second.
Sure.
I hear the talking.
Yes, yes, let me… let me share, let me share the link
Okay.
I could
I sent it to you.
Sure, and I'll be able to send it to everybody else.
This is a YouTube video. Oh, in-app Reporting with Qlik Cloud Analytics. This is a playlist. I can get past the ad
Yeah, we have 28 videos there
And they start from the very beginning to pixel perfect.
Good one, Andrea.
Fantastic.
So, here's a playlist of instructional YouTube videos all about using
Reporting with Excel tabular reports, which is a great feature. All the way through templates.
groups
This is fantastic. Thank you.
Hope that is helpful.
Next question
It would be useful to have an alert option in case report failed to be generated or sent
Is there any alternative method to get a similar notification?
So if a report task fails, isn't there an
Option and notifications or something to
Notifications do show up if, for example, if you if your task fails on reload, for example, you should be getting notifications on the top right corner on the bell on your screen. And if you haven't set those up, you can set up notifications. So send the link
Okay.
Let me find the notifications link. So
Yeah, I think, Frank, this is more on the Reporting side, so if a report fails, you don't get a notification by default, and you can't set up a notification for report failures as of today
Oh, man
Not that I know of.
Yeah, but what I've seen is you can use automation, just check the status
of an automation, so it can
So, generally, you set up an automation. If it is a scheduled one, you set up an automation, you know, at the scheduled time, so which checks the status of your automation, and then
sends you a Slack message or a Teams message with the status of those run of the reports, if it's successful or not. So automation can do that. So we used to do the same for
Reloads, or I guess, before we had the notifications, or dissachable, and click automation
Okay.
Next question.
So that
How do you limit who can run an automation?
And this is that API list. Great. Thank you for finding that. I'll share that with everybody.
But back to the question
So this would be the endpoint to use in automation
Back to the latest question about how do you limit who can run
A report task. Is that a role in Qlik Cloud?
Yes. So, in the default role
In the default marriage, default permissions, that's under the content type, you have applications, and under application, you have generate all reports
Generate reports, yeah.
So if it is allowed… yes, so if it is allowed for a user, then by default, they can, you know, disable
So, if it is the… if you want the users to generate only on demand, you select that. If you don't want the users, then you don't allow, and then you can create a custom role. If you want users to generate only the on-demand reports, you can create a custom role and provide those required permissions
Great.
So take a look at permissions on the tenant, basically, and create a custom role to get the role that you're looking for.
Okay, next question, see if we can get through these before we run out of time. What about creating reports and report tasks by Qlik Answers? Exciting AI question.
Yeah.
That's… that's a great question, and I don't believe we're there yet, but I would definitely put that in as a feature request.
I can say that our tech expert talk session in the beginning of December is going to be all about the improvements with Qlik Answers. There's a
Bunch of improvements that are coming in mid-November and
I don't remember if that's part of it, but I know that the performance and accuracy of Qlik Answers is about to dramatically improve
Capabilities as well, and I'm not sure if that's a private, but please register for that session and bring your questions. I'm going to have the
product manager for Qlik Answers for that, and you can ask him directly.
Great.
Next question
As I know nothing about Pixel Perfect, and I already worked with as a dashboard editor, is it a good alternative
Dashboard plus automate to generate reports? Or do I need to go for pixel Perfect
All right, so who wants to
give a general overview of what Pixel Perfect can do.
Well, pixel Perfect is a lot more complex and it's a banded Reporting tool, which is very different than the other tools.
So it's it requires
It's going to require a good deal of training before you try to use it. Because as I said, it is a little more complex. You need to understand how banded Reporting works. You need to understand how changing the objects and charts will impact
The pixel Perfect report. But once you do get a hold of the knowledge and you learn it, it is a very nice fine grained output professional level reports that are executive
C-suite type reports. Once you get the hang of it. So there's a there's a reason you want to use pixel perfect, and that is if you want really super professional looking output versus you know your your day to day stuff
That can go out to your and your business users. So two different applications, but you got to learn pixel perfect. Take the courses that are free and available.
Great. That's a very good answer. Thank you.
Okay
Next question.
Yes.
Are there some Qlik Cloud theme templates which are optimized for Reporting? We addressed this earlier. Sorry if you missed the answer and
Basically
There are plenty of Qlik themes and even ability to create custom themes, but nothing specific to Reporting.
Correct.
Alright, I'm going to scroll through. That's the last of the questions in the Q&A tool. I'm going to scroll back up through the chat. See what I missed.
All right, I found one. Next question. Can we overlay multiple charts in the same space and use buttons or variables to toggle their visibility? All right, so we're talking about
app design here
For example, one button displays sales performance, another displays inventory performance, both occupying the exact same area
A little off topic, but yes.
What is it
I mean, within the past five years, new tool. Is it the container object or some sort of layering object that allows you to have multiple objects in the same space
Was it, I forget what it's called.
Yeah
Write the container, the tap, is it called a layout container now? I think it was called tabbed, and now it's called layout. Is that or the other way around
Yes. Perhaps it's the layout container.
Yeah. Yeah, I think
But there's a container object, basically
And,
Yeah.
that allows you to do that same dynamic, sort of, using the same space on your analytics sheet, but having buttons to activate different stuff on there.
And
like, has been mentioned, do check out Qlik Learning or just Google
how to layer objects on a Qlik Cloud analytics sheet, and you should be able to find some resources on how to do that and the details.
Yeah.
Next question. See if we can get through a couple more. Is it possible to have a Qlik report on Excel online?
No
With two apps of the cloud. So, okay, so is it possible to get a report with data from two different Qlik applications?
Not possible.
Okay.
Yeah, multi-connections and Qlik Reports are not available, nor are they available and then NPrinting.
So your app, it's app by app. If you look, your, your Qlik Report, you go to the app, it actually starts in the app. The report itself actually begins in the app, right? So there's no way to connect data from a separate app into the existing app you're looking at
Okay
So it's an app by app report.
And last question we have time for.
Let's see if I can get this question right.
Asking about in-app Reporting
They want to be able to filter report when they use an automation
The filter report when we need to use an automation to send it. This was a comment and response given didn't really reply to what I had asked.
See if I can find the original question
Are you guys following
Which question? Is this the one
That's currently an open. Oh, maybe there's a follow-up there.
I'm afraid the question got kind of truncated across multiple
Yeah.
Comments, and I'm having trouble following the train.
Mentioning filters in an app Reporting to filter report when we need to use an automation to send it.
Yeah
I'm not sure what the actual question is, and I apologize for getting lost.
I think it is about,
You know, reusing those filters inside the automation, so
Yeah
Is that
Right, that's right.
How to apply the distribution list. And you were talking about
using APIs if you can't find what you're looking for
Yeah, so the…
It's related to getting the
That's the…
So I don't think we have a perfect answer for you, and we are
running out of time, so we may have to follow up offline
But yeah
But there are some APIs to get more detailed, but
So that's
And remember, folks, you can also ask your questions again. It's really important. Be aware that the Qlik community is there. The Qlik Reporting community, you know, feel free to post these questions there as well, or anything else that you think of after this session over in the Qlik community and Troy's posted that that link as well.
Yep, and just wanted to add that sorry, so that's the API endpoint that you can
Get the, you know… so it… when you reach that endpoint, it's gonna come up as
bookmark ID, so every filter that you create, it's going to be, you know, it has a, you know, ID and a description, so you can pass that inside the automation to, you know, to the report.
Using the select field value
Great, thank you.
Well, we're just about out of time.
I really appreciate all the great questions.
And everybody's participation today, and thank you again to this expert panel for addressing all these questions as best we can.
Oh, you added
Thanks, everybody. I hope you have a great rest of your day.
Thank you.
Thank you, everybody. Thank you, Troy.
Thank you. Bye.
Bye-
