I Pad screen

hi all,

I am building an application for an I-Pa. I usually use width 980 * height 610. Now a user sent me a  wire frame or a design sheet(Paper based) with diminutions of 2048*1538. (the requester said these are the dimensions of I-Pad3)

I feel I am missing something here between the two dimensions..

Anyone can clear it for me please..

Best,

Alec

Yes ... from an application standpoint it seems like the iPad has the resolution you refer to effectively. Due to compatibility with the original iPads - the pre-retina iPads - Apple kept the full retina resolution sort of hidden for normal applications because everything was scaled nicely taking advantage of the full resolution anyway. There is however applications that might get a benefit of accessing the full pixel resolution - but they are relatively few. For all purposes think of it as 980 x 610 and it will look beautiful on a full retina display with the physical resolution of 2048x1538 anyway.
