Limitation of data to download as excel

Is there any limitation defined for downloading data as excel from Straight Table and Pivot Table Objects?

I mean limitation of data rows for downloading data as excel?

Regards,

Kaung Myat Tun

Hi all,

Thanks for your answers.

To summarize, the limitation data row for the exporting to excel depends on the excel application.

For Excel 2003, the maximum row is 65,536 and column is 256.

If the exporting data row/column is over the limitation of excel app, it will be downloaded as CSV file (i.e. no limitation of data row and column)

To the best of my knowledge, the limit is only driven by Excel's maximum number of rows. However, if you need to export that many records, you'd be better off storing your data using STORE command in the script.

Hi Kaung,

We have written a vb macro that will disable the export to excel button if the no. of rows is greater than 60,000

The macro would loop through all control types to see if they are tables and then check the count of rows and do the disabling.

The browser used to hang when the user exported a table that had a large data.

Alternatively you could provide an export to excel button to export data from a hidden table that would have limited rows.

thanks,

Hello Kaung Myat Tun,

There is no strict figure and limitations. You may send as much as you can apart from this you may go with macro which will help to keep loading till your desired figure. I have never face issue while exporting millions of records.

Thanks

Advait
