Hide qvw from the Access Point

Hi there,

We are using QVS, with widows authentication we have give\deny access to some users to some document (every user have access to the document that we have define). Every user can see every document in the access point even if the access is denied to him. Is there any chance to hide documents from the users that don't have access to them?

e.g. We have 1.qvw, 2.qvw, 3.qvw and users A, B, C, D.

User A have access to 1.qvw and 2.qvw,

User B have access to 1.qvw, 2.qvw and 3.qvw

User C have access only to 2.qvw

User D have access only to 3.qvw

In the Access Point everybody could see dosuments 1,2,3 and have access to the specified, I want :

User A see only 1.qvw and 2.qvw,

User B see 1.qvw, 2.qvw and 3.qvw

User C see only to 2.qvw

User D see only to 3.qvw

Kind Regards,

Helen

Hi,

Well, if NTFS files permission isn't working you could always run QVS in DMS mode and set the permission in the QMC.

Hello,

in my case I define NTFS permissions in every file and works, showing only those documents to which the user has access.

Hi Salto,

Is there any chance to send me some print screens or something to see how you setup your system?

Hi Bill,

The permission is working fine, the problem is that I don't want the users could see documents in the access point in which they have no access.

This document would only be seen by User1 and the Administrator. Note you will have to add the service account also. Also, if you are not sure on setting this up, you need to get with your IT team. If you are not careful you could lose access to the document.

If you have set up to limit the document for a users or usergroup should only that/those users be able to see the distributed document on the access point. If you get an different behavior most something be setup incorrect.

The behavior you are describing sound like you have set the NTFS rights on the file on disk but let all authenticated users see the document on the access point. Please check what authorization you set on the task and change that so it matches the users you like to be able to see/access the document.

ok , if in particular you have four users a,b,c,d or so and according to tha matrix

defined by yoy go to each qvw    1.qvw, 2.qvw, 3.qvw and deife section access by ntname there is

a inline wizard that automatically creates it for you

like 1.qvw  you want A, B to access then create a section access by NTNAME

simillarly 2.qvw create section access for user A,B,C,D in your script by providing there Respective

NTNAME  simillalry for 3.qvw..

now what happens when individual user will login by its NTNAME in Access point he/she will see

that qvw in which his/her NTNAME  is defined...

Anant

The section access will only stop the user from be able to open the document; the document wills till be visible on the access point independent if you have the correct section access credentials or not.

Hi Eleni,

I can see lot of available options have been provided already by some of our experts!! STill you can try this one as well, if you dont want to use Section Access and directly implement in QMC.

See the screenshot below and implement:

Documents>>UserDocuments>>Select your QVW (higlighted in RED box here)>>Authorization tab>>Select Named Users>> Add the desired names/IDs to whom you want to give access>>Apply.

Only the names provided in the Named users can see the QVW in Access Point.

Please check if this helps you!
