Actually there was a requirement of migrating reporting from Cognos to Qlikview,

and users were having flexibility in Cognos to build their own report on adhoc basis...

Thats why I was looking into these points....

Assuming that, you are talking about allowing users create their own report using browser client, you can achive upto some extend in the IE by allowing 'Server Object' both in server as well as in document.

Create an inline table with all the possible dimension values.

Create an table with all de dimensions and put an conditional show on them. Something like: =Substringcount(Concat(GetFieldSelections(_SelectionDimension), '|') ,'DimensionValue1’)

When the end users selects an dimension from the inline table, the dimension is shown. All the other dimensions are hided. You can do the same for measures.

This is in my opion the clossest call to adhoc reporting in QlikView

Minor measures can be made as of simple aggregation ,

but while comparitive analysis, how it can be done, as users dont know set analysis.

While in cognos we can provide this facility also.

This data can be easily shown in pivot table in the same format, but user want to create new expression to compare and calculate percentage of consecutive years
