Currently, there is a "quota" limitation on spreadsheet data sources. I believe you start getting "quota exceeded" errors if a spreadsheet is larger than 25mb. I am aware that this limit can be changed via the API, but I would like to suggest that this limitation should be allowed to be altered by an administrator in the QMC.
I'm not aware of a limits on source data files such as xls/csv files etc.
I have definitely loaded bigger files than 25mb into apps (via the server) without issue.
This maybe some other issue to pursue outside of QS.
may be helpful for you?
The maximum message size quota for incoming messages (65536) has been exceeded
The limit doesn't hit when you load the file, but when you try to duplicate an application.
I had a support case for the issue, and it's not related to the message size quota. It's an actual file size limitation, but it only seems to throw an error when you try to duplicate an application that contains a data file (spreadsheet) larger than 25 mb.
Hi Mike,
What server version are you running?
I have not hit this issue before, I have exported apps e.g. 40Mb to drop onto my laptop to work on when
server not available. Have you spoken to Qlik? What country are you in for support?
cheers
Paul
Hi Paul,
I'm in the US. I did speak to Qlik support about this, and they verified that there is a limit of 25mb for spreadsheets and it will throw an error "quota exceeded" when you try to duplicate an application that contains spreadsheets larger than 25mb.
Another thought, if you are exporting from the QMC then perhaps there is a quota set by your server admin on the
drive/share/san that will be exceeded by your action.
Export/Import work fine. It's just "duplicate" that throws the error.
Sorry my bad, I meant duplicate, the duplicate app will do the same thing at the file level, the duplicate is then
placed in your My Work stream, as I say I have move big apps around Export/Publish/Duplicate, this really sounds like a server admin issue that I cannot put my finger on, I'm not on site at present so cannot check this out.
Is this a production app you are trying to duplicate ? I was going to suggest if it was not a prod app, then do a limited load to reduce the size of the app then duplicate it. Or try an export and then import it which will be the long way round to a duplicate, not ideal but it will get you over the line until your admins sort the issue out.
As I say, what have Qlik said to you , usually they are pretty quick to respond to these types of server issues.
