Can you no longer filter logs in Cloud?

Hi,

I've noticed that there have been some changes made to the logs in TMC recently. Can you no longer filter the logs by a keyword or if there was an error? This was really useful. Now i have to download the full log, then search in a text editor which doesn't have the same formatting at in TMC and is very difficult to read.

At this time, the only way to filter/search in the logs via the Run Overview, is to either use "ctrl+F" within your browser, or download the log and search via a text editor. These changes you are observing are due to a new log design implemented in the latest release of Talend Cloud.

There is a feature request asking for the filter/search bar be added back into the log viewer; if possible, we ask that you log into your portal account, and submit a ticket.

Ok thanks I'll do that, seems like a massive backwards step for usability. I'd encourage anyone else reading this to do the same.

I raised a ticket as suggested and it's been rejected already. Great. The logs are pretty much unusable now as a result of these 'improvements'.

The feature request TMC-25200 "Run overview page / Log tab / Add options : Filters & Display only error logs (Error, fatal) as it was available before R2021-09 release" has been rejected by product management team with below comment:

A new version of logs page has been released in TMC in October 2021 (https://help.talend.com/r/en-US/Cloud/release-notes/r2021-10-talend-cloud-management-console). This is the reason why few items have been removed from the logs page like filter logs (search keywords, error logs only).

These modifications are related to the change in the architecture.

The change in log architecture aims to stabilize Talend Cloud. With this in place, access to logs is faster and can support more volume however there is no way to set up the same features as before as logs are now stored as files and not anymore in a log analyzing third party tool.

Nonetheless, there are potential improvement being analyzed: log file readability improvement especially regarding the timestamp and log page preference being saved by user.

Talend recommendation is to select WARN or ERROR for jobs running in production for a better experience and faster time to analyze. These log levels decrease the volume of logs displayed. Only relevant error or warn messages are displayed, similar to the previous filter on error logs, therefore search on a specific string value is less needed.
