Qlikview Search function problems

Morning,

I have what seems to be a very simple question, but I cannot fathom why the search function in a list box is not working. Some list boxes in my model behave exactly as I would expect and others behave contrary to the Qlikview rules: the two following selections, while different return the same results: The first table returns what I would expect from what I have entered.

The second reflects the same results as the first, but the * wildcard is missing:

On this table I would expect the search function to only return M06.

I find this very confusing. Can someone help me understand why this search function is not working.
