Out of curiosity: What's the need for Talend, Qlik Replicate, Data Integration, etc. when you have Qlik Script?

Historically, one of Qlik’s standout advantages compared to tools like Power BI or Tableau was its self-contained nature. With Qlik Sense, we can load data from multiple sources, transform it using Qlik Script, perform our ETL tasks, and build dashboards—all by just using Qlik apps.

Lately, however, I’ve noticed that Qlik has been acquiring and developing a range of data integration and ETL solutions (think Talend, Qlik Replicate, etc.). This shift seems to move away from the “all-in-one” philosophy. So, I’m curious:

What’s driving this change? Suddenly Qlik Sense is just a reporting tool like Power BI?

Fantastic question @Fq95.

Short answer is "options" and "targets".

Qlik Replicate and Stitch are for Data Replication, to move records from source to target without (or minimum) transformations. The key word here is speed and as near as real time as possible.

Talend Studio/Talend Cloud is a powerful Data Integration tool capable of connecting to multiple types of source databases, processing data asynchronously, supports multiple targets, supports highly complex processing scenarios (very far beyond Qlik Scripts), supports ETL/ELT, Data Quality control and much, much more.

Qlik Load Script and Qlik Data Flow are the same thing. Qlik Data Flow was designed to support users not familiar with Qlik Load Script. As we well know, Qlik Scripting is very powerful and fast to Load and Transform Data, but it lacks performance when used to write records in a database - it was not designed for that. So, it is not a good tool to perform Data Integration tasks.

Qlik is moving toward a complete and integrated platform that combines Data Integration, Business Intelligence, and Data Science into a single solution. It will take some time to have everything seamlessly integrated, but they will get there!
