Connect to an Excel / CSV file in Talend Open Studio for Data Quality?

Hi all data gurus,
I have finally installed Talend Open Studio for Data Quality and got it running (after a lot of confusions on JDK and Environment Variables 0683p000009MAB6.png ).
Now I am really finding it difficult to figure out how to make a connection to an excel spreadsheet or a CSV file to do some data checking. Can someone please shade some light into it? I mean is there any way I can import an excel file and do some data quality analysis please? I read somewhere that it requires some ODBC connection, but there are no instructions in that.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Hi DeepData
I suggest that you:
-first read: https://help.talend.com//pages/viewpage.action?pageId=260877733 in order to connect the studio to the file you want to profile.
-second start profiling your csv or excel file following the procedures at https://help.talend.com/display/TalendOpenStudioforDataQualityUserGuide56EN/5.4+Analyzing+data+in+a+...
Then you can check https://help.talend.com//pages/viewpage.action?pageId=260877717 to have a global idea about what types of profiling analyses are supported in the studio. Individual chapters in the documentation give detail information about each type of analysis.

Hi Hiyam,
Thanks for all the above links. I have successfully created the ODBC_Excel DataSource as suggested. But unfortunately I get an error while trying to make a database connection in Talend under MetaData DB Connections. Screenshot attached. Can you please help? Thanks.

Hi DeepData,
A ODBC connection can be established using the Java ODBC bridge.
Is your ODBC well configured? Did you have the right Driver installed on your computer? This driver installed successfully should be listed in the Odbc Manager of your OS?
Best regards
Sabrina
