Code Promotion from DEV-TEST-PROD branches in github and Talend Studio and TMC

Current steps followed by us: I am required to do code promote from branch talend-dev -> branch talend-test -> talend-prod. Currently the way we are doing this code promotion is as follows.

1. Develop the code using “talend-open-studio” in the branch “talend-dev“.

2. Test this code in “talend open studio”.

3. Publish the code to the DEV environment to a specific workspace which becomes an artifact.

4. Create the required Task for this artifact.

5. Run this task and verify the results.

6. If results are successful, then we are ready to promote the code to the “talend-test”

7. Export the code from the “talend-dev” to a zip file.

8. Switch the branch to “talend-test”.

9. Import the code into “talend-test”

10. Repeat the steps from 2-6, except that it would apply to “talend-test” to “talend-prod”

Question: Are the steps followed by us correct? If yes, we are being told that we must use the “Pipeline Promotion” option in TMC, but we are not sure how the code will get promoted in github from the branches talend-dev -> talend-test -> talend-prod? Please help schedule a zoom call to go over the clarification.
