Install question

We are moving from an older version to Talend Data Integration 6.2.1.

We have decided to install the new system on new hardware, and then re create our data jobs.

Given that are there any advantages to installing on Linux vs Windows?

Also wondering the advantage of installing as a program vs a Service?

I am merely an infrastructure engineer - so personally will not be using the system, I just want to hand the "best" box that I can off to our BI team.
