Regularly updating java on remote engines

Hello. Can any advise on the best practice for updating Java on remote engines/job servers? Do you stick with the same version long term or do you upgrade regularly?

I'm currently in a position where frequent (monthly) updates are being pushed to our remote engines and fear that Talend will not respond well to this. Are regular updates likely to cause problems with Talend?

I only discovered this when I needed to change $JAVA_HOME to a new folder location, which is going to become a nuisance if we updated monthly.

Many thanks,

Hello @Michael Carrick ,

Normally speaking, we will stick with the same java version long term and won't upgrade regularly.

However, if it's required to upgrade the java version, please follow the below article:

  1. update major/minor versions between java 8, please refer to https://help.talend.com/r/en-US/7.3/upgrading-java-data-fabric-linux/upgrading-java-for-all-talend-s...
  2. upgrade from java 8 to 11, please refer to https://help.talend.com/r/en-US/7.3/upgrading-java-data-fabric-linux/upgrading-java-for-talend-remot...

Best regards
