Hi
Are you trying to install custom component from studio? Which version of studio? We need to test and investigate it further.
In the mean time, I would recommend you to install custom component manually, here is a documentation shows you how to do it.

I have downloaded the component as a zip and have gone to Preferences > Talend > Component. and have selected the component from here. I dont see this in my palette.

Also have gone to exchange in my studio, i can see it listed in downloaded extensions, i click install, but it doesn't do anything. I don't find it installed. Thanks

Hi
I have tried to install manually this component on v7.3.1 and I can see the component in palette. Please check and make sure you have followed the steps:
1. Download the componnent as a zip from Exchange.
2. Unzip the archive file to a component folder.
3. Copy the component folder and paste it to a folder where you put all the user components.
4. Go to Preferences > Talend > Component and select the folder where you put the user components.
5. Click Apply and Close button.
The studio will reload the user components, and then you will find the user components in palette.

There may exist issue to install the component from Talend Studio, I suggest you to install the user component manually.
