This article will provide the steps needed to properly change the log/AppData folder locations for each of the QlikView services to alternate locations in the environment. One key prerequisite is the new target locations must have the same NTFS permissions as the default locations prior to making any changes.

Hi,
Sorry but what do I do if I cannot find the distribution service under System->Setup?
Tried changing the ApplicationData folder directory in C:\Program Files\QlikView\Distribution Service:
QVDistributionService.exe.config
config_LSA-Qklik01
Configuration
with no luck - still creates the logs under C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\1\Log
version - 12.60.20100.0 (no publisher)

Hello @riclight89
This indicates that you do not have a Distribution Service Licensed (no publisher - as you mentioned). The Distribution Service can only be modified/configured if a Publisher is licensed.
All the best,
Sonja
So I cannot change the Log file path from C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\1\Log to a shared drive (best practice i'm sure) without having a publisher license? Sorry to to repeat what you said but surely this should be customizable as one would want to consolidate all ones Log files in one place. It's only this service that I cannot choose/change the Log file location..
Thanks for your response!

Richard
