Office 365 SMTP setup for Qlikview

The standard way of configuring QlikView to send alert emails or distribute through SMTP through Office 365 (smtp.office365.com) is detailed in Configuring Publisher to be able to make SSL connection to an SMTP email service.

However not all Office 365 installations allow for this setup.

It may be necessary to configure Microsoft IIS for relay with Office 365.

Environment:

• QlikView all versions.

Cause:

Smtp.office365.com may refuse emails initiated from a task reload. The settings mentioned in Setting up QMC to work with Gmail and also Configuring Publisher to be able to make SSL connection to an SMTP email service may not work.
 

Resolution:

The alternate way consists of installing an IIS server on the QlikView Server and configure it for relay with Office 365.

Finalizing steps:

Make sure the binding of the default website is pointed away from the port of the Qlikview Server. If the AccessPoint runs on port 80 move the IIS setting to e.g. 8080.

Please adjust the mail settings in the QMC: System > Mail Server

• Hostname: localhost
• Port: 25
• From address: your office 365 mail adress
• Authentication Method: Anonymous
• Send all e-mails to: your prefered receiver adress(es)

In the Qlikview document if  using alerts, make sure options batch and interactive are checked.
