You might encounter the following error when trying to create a new Snowflake connection or select data from an already existing connection using the Qlik Snowflake connector within the Qlik ODBC connector package in Qlik Sense May 2021 from Patch 1 upwards:

"Unable to construct ODBC connection string: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Environment

  • Qlik Sense May 2021 Patch 1 and higher

Resolution

There are the following workarounds available in order to solve the problem:

1) Upgrade to Qlik Sense version August 2021 or higher

2) Remove the applied patch which was causing the problem

3) Upgrade or downgrade the Qlik ODBC connector package version to the one from Qlik Sense May 2021 initial release or August 2021 or higher (before any change on the Qlik ODBC connector package please do a backup of the original Qlik connector folders and test accordingly on a test environment)

Cause

The cause of this issue is not 100% clear. The issue might be caused due to some alterations in the Qlik ODBC connector package binaries folder like for example installed an engineering build from Qlik or manual changes in the connector config file.
