SAP Connector using Qlik Data Transfer

Hello,

We use Qlik Sense SaaS, and Qlik Data Transfer (QDT) for retrieving data from our ODBC sources.

We are now trying to connect to our SAP ECC 6.0  using the SAP Connector.

We are using version 7.0.7 of the SAP Connector since that one is the appropiate version for our SAP version.

We have completed the steps detailed on https://help.qlik.com/en-US/connectors/Subsystems/SAP_Connectors_Help/Content/Connectors_SAP/Install...

(created the user, applied the transports, installed the connector in our local Windows Server where QDT resides)

We are now working on the last steps detailed on:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/cloud-services/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/QlikDataTransfer/sap-qli...

We reached step 4: "In Qlik DataTransfer, add an existing app that contains a SAP connection in Qlik apps".

We don't quite understand this step. We use Qlik Sense Saas, we do not have a Qlik Sense local server. It is not possible for us to create an app that contains a SAP connection.

Instead, we want to create a Data Connection from QDT to our SAP. When we try to do so, we see a broken icon of SAP in the connectors list. When we click on in we get the next error:

Cannot GET /connectorweb/QvSAPBwConnector/standalone/connect-dialog.html

Please, let me know if you have any advices.

Thanks.

Hi @Seba,

Qlik Data Gateway is the enterprise solution that is meant for organically integrating your on premise data into Qlik Cloud.

Qlik Data Transfer is a simple tool which is meant for a single developer to upload data to Qlik Cloud.

While we'll keep supporting Qlik Data Transfer, we recommend using Qlik Data Gateway for any new need, since it's the tool we are going to invest most into.

Hi SankarReddyK,

Thanks for your reply.

Please could you explain why Qlik Data Transfer is not recommendable or applicable for SAP?

We use it for the rest of our applications, and it would require time and effort to implement yet another additional tool, such as Qlik Data Gateway.

Thanks.

Hi @Daniele_Purrone.,

Thanks for your reply.

Please, could you confirm if Qlik Data Gateway can be installed on the same server as Qlik Data Transfer and run at the same time? (in order to keep the connections we already implemented on QDT).

Hi @Seba ,
I'm afraid that should be avoided:
Setting up Qlik Data Gateway - Direct Access | Qlik Cloud Help: "Do not use a server that already has Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows or Qlik DataTransfer installed."
