Calculating Avg

I am new to QLIK and have spent so much time trying to figure this out, but I have not been lucky.

I am trying to average a data set by a specific dimension but am having trouble. Below is an example of the data

 I want to provide the average for each function. For example, I would like to get the average for Function Specialist based on John and Mary's average. The averages should be listed in the column average next to the value.

Avg(TOTAL <Function> Value)

Thank you. But for some reason, it did not work. Results are blank. I even added count and that did not work

@urbanfaces Are you using Pivot table? Can you please share sample QVF file or image how and where it is not working?

I think I misunderstood your formula. Avg(TOTAL <Function> Value) IS it the same as Avg(TOTAL Function, Value). A comma in the place of the >
