Cannot create variables?

Hi everyone!

Just started to learn to develop in Qlik Sense and learning new stuff everyday! Though I am having some trouble with creating variables, and google is not my friend in this case, so I am turning to you guys.

Simply put - I can't find the Variable-button, is it some sort of credential issues? Version that is outdated?
I have been looking at several tutorials and it is supposed to be in the left bottom corner, right?

Hi, and thanks for your response. 

Well, I am quite new at a large corporation and I just got access to some streams and dashboards.
I would say that I probably do not have root admin access.

The app in the screenshoot is in your work area or is it published?

So, apparently (or perhaps obviously?) you can not create variables if the dashboard is published and not in my Work area.

Follow up question in that case; If its published, and I am not the owner, how can I get that specific app to my Work area so I actually can edit and create Variables on that specific app?

Before to open the app, right click on that, than select copy.

It will appear automatically in your work area
