I'm new to QLik, so I'm trying to understand if this product can provide what I'm looking for. I'm in the process of creating a website as a side project. This is entirely separate from my day job, so I would be purchasing qlik solely as an individual. For one of the pages on my website, I'd like to embed an analytical dashboard, and I'm curious if qlik would be a good solution for this. I apologize in advance if the answers to my questions seem obvious..
Can an embedded dashboard with qlik be interactive? i.e. When a user is on my website, would they have the ability to sort tables, select filters from a provided drop down, etc or is it simply 'read only' ? I've already tested embedding a Google Data Studio dashboard onto this page and it's entirely interactive (the same as if you were interacting with it on the data studio). Would this be similar with qlik?
Second question, assuming users can interact with filters, are these considered 'queries' ? The context being that if my site has a 1000 users interacting with an embedded dashboard, would that be sending 1000 query calls to qlik? Is that baked into the $30/month price. Last, would the users of my website be considered users to qlik? I'm the only one with the qlik account and I'm embedding a dashboard on a subscription website. Are my subscribers considered users to qlik? Please correct me on any of my assumptions above and please let me know, now that I've provided more context, if qlik seems like a product that would be a good option for my website.
A lot of questions I will try to answer the best I can.
1. Yes Qlik can be embedded into other websites. This video shows the many ways it can be done.
2. Here is another video showing specifically for SaaS users how it can be done since the interface isn't quite the same but the first video shows all of the varieties.
3. Yes as you will have seen in the videos if you make selections to charts that are embedded they are responsive to filters and you can click within charts themselves.
4. If you have 1,000 accessing your site at the same time each would have their session for the application and each user's interactions will only impact themselves.
5. Security will be an issue. If you have 1,000 users access your Website, they would need to be authorized as users to access Qlik on the backend. Meaning, no you can't have 1,000 users accessing objects from your single user Qlik license Cloud tenant. There are licensing models that would enable mass usage.
Appreciate the response Dalton. The only outstanding question I have is related to 4/5. I've embedded a Google Data Studio Dashboard into my website and tested that I'm able to access the page and interact with the dashboard. The website is not public yet, so I obviously have not tested multiple users interacting with it, but what is the roadblock exactly? For an embedded Qlik dashboard, where would the user have to enter their Qlik credentials? I ask because with the embedded Google Data Studio Dashboard, I'm not prompted to do so. Full disclosure, I do not have a computer science / technical background, so please excuse my lack of understanding if what you're describing is very basic. I have an engineering degree and 6 years of professional experience in that area so I'm familiar with data analysis and using that information to make business decisions. The technical side is new to me, that's why I want to make sure I fully understand. Thanks!
Dalton, you’ve made my day literally. Thanks a lot for sharing those guides. I highly appreciate that! You know, I often go through certain difficulties while figuring out how new software works. Btw, Zs1, have you tried asking for help on Reddit? I think it might work, actually. Btw, you can also find a specialist on Fiverr or Upwork to ask for help. QLik is not a very specific program, so I think some freelancers may help you. For example, when I needed an IP detection service for my website, a Fiverr specialist advised me about apiip.net. I wish I had done it earlier, actually. I lost a lot of time looking for help on the forums. Still, it’s been a year since your request, so you might have already solved it.
