Help with setting up a table to display percentages of total

I have six columns in Excel. Each column represents a question on a survey. So the column has numbers in it 1-4. Each number representing an answer. I want to display the percentage of the total responses for that column that answered with each question. So for example the % of people that said 1 to Question 1.

I am trying to build a pivot table but my brain just must not be working here. What is the easiest to go about this?

at a high level try valuelist as a dimension

select chart --> use pivot table --> Pick the question column as dimension and expression as count(Answer).  it gives you a drill through table initially. expand it for results.
