Protecting an application with a password

Hello,

Is it possible to enter a password when opening an application AND store the password in an excel file and not in the QlikSense application please?

No this is not possible.

however it is possible to ask the account that is logging in to give there credentials everytime a session has been closed.

but if you want to have one some people to see an app you can use security rules in combination with a custom property to set those right's.

if you (also) want user to see the app but 1 user only can see there department and a manager need to see all the data you can do this via section access.

That’s what I did, I used security rules that I filtered again with an access section but I still wanted to reinforce everything by a password but not registered in the application because I find it dangerous.

in Qlik Sense there is no way to protect this via a password.

just a taught, wouldn't it be insecure to store passwords in Excel even if you password protect this?

by brute forcing within less then 30 minutes you can crack the password on an excelfile

also with section access if it is implemented the right way, what will happen is that the data will be filtered out before the app is loaded. so that if user A has more rights user A will only see User A associated data.

if user B at the same time logs in user B will only see user B data.

so this is as secure as it gets. but if your organisation really needs to secure the data you might want to take a look at Qlik Forts (or the new variant of that).

Depending of the security you are trying to accomplish, Section Access would be to restrict data, there are also data and QVF encryption available, maybe if we could get more details about the reason to looking to restrict access to the file will help.
