Thank you, it was that I didn't have licenses assigned to me. It's not immediately visible that this is the problem, especially as many of the connectors are Free - so I assumed I was doing something wrong, but a colleague with licences pointed me to the right direction.
The Qlik website, especially in the Help section, could be improved - the word 'License' is hardly mentioned here or here . The only hint that the Web Connectors are linked to a purchased license was in this sentence:
"Go to www.qlik.com to log on with a registered customer or partner account, select Services > Customer Downloads, and then select the Qlik Connectors tab."
What constitutes a 'registered customer' is vague to me, but I guess that according to Qlik, to be a customer, a purchase must have taken place. And fair enough, that makes sense, but it shouldn't have taken me half a day reading through blogs and help pages to get to the bottom of this.
